  1. Chalk another up on the list of things to check. Is the fit and finish of these cars really that bad? Wires chafing in various places, intercoolers rubbing through, leaking windsheilds, ac leaking, door latches jamming up, etc, etc.... All on low mileage cars too.I plan to keep my smart for a long time because it does save me a lot of money but I'm pretty handy and can handle most problems myself. I certainly can see why some get frustrated and get rid of them.
  2. Go for it, you won't regret it. Especially if you shift the car manually. Not necessarily faster. Just seems to engage better. Might be due to the fact that the clutch wasn't designed to handle the torque. It only seems to do it when I'm lead footed so I lift slightly on the accelerator now for clutch longevity. The 184 map really only shines when in auto mode. If it wasn't for others in my household driving it I'd be leaving Glenn's map in for sure. I also notice more noise from the turbo. A spitting sound, like it bleeds off the excess pressure more now than it did before. Only happens when I get caught in too high a gear though. I'm guessing the map dialed the boost up a smidgen.

  4. I also got one of Glenn's maps a while back. I love the extra power, but the shifting, not so much. I installed the 365184 map from this thread last year and it is much better. The shifts were faster, more precise and at a more reasonable rpm. The map I have from Glenn will still let the car run down the road at 2900rpm without shifting. Then there is also a slight clutch drag as the gears shift. I find I have to lift the accelerator to prevent it from happening which I've never had to do before. I would say Glenn's map is slightly better than stock in the shifting department. It doesn't bother me that much as I only drive the car in manual mode myself but my wife occasionally drives it I have a teenager getting his license soon. (He won't be touching the 400hp truck. lol) Because of this I'll probably switch back to the 184 map and only use Glenn's when I have the trailer on the back and I need the extra power. My fuel mileage has remained close to the same as far as I can tell since he remapped it. I had a few bad tanks in the beginning. That's probably because I was playing around with it. It has seemed to level off now and I'll know more come spring when I get my winter wheels off. Overall I am happy with the map and Glenn has the best price you'll find but I do wish it shifted more like the 184 map does.
  5. I usually keep my rpms around 1700-1800. Always have, even before the remap. I actually think the car liked it better before the map.
  6. I trimmed mine while it was still in the car. Good luck on the rest of the job!
  7. My local Esso station gets me the best mileage. Shell V-power has been the worst by far.I ran V-power exclusively after I got the car. I was never able to get under 4L/100km until I switched. I've been as low as 3.4 on Esso. I put Husky as second.
  8. I can verify it is just as much, if not more of a PITA to get in as it was to get out. Sorry I can't offer much help. All I remember was being frustrated and the feeling of accomplishment when I got it in. lol
  9. Installed new wipers today. Installed the 2005 Civic ones due to the reviews on here. I hope they work as well as everyone says cause they weren't cheap. Also gave the windsheild a coat of Rain-x while I was at it.
  10. My reason for the hitch: What are you all using for hitches?
  11. People pull up beside me and take pictures when I'm hauling my dirt bike around. You get used to it.
  12. It might just be that I watched the video with my phone, but it sounds like something is rubbing. I would check all covers and plates that could possibly come loose around the belt area before diving into anything more expensive.
  13. I'm hoping mine last half as long. Lol
  14. Blew another headlight bulb so I installed a HID kit. Hopefully it lasts a little longer.
  15. It looks like that camera only records after it senses a collision. If I was to put a dashcam in my car I'd want it to record in a continuous loop and only save the loop if it senses a collision or if a button is pressed. There's tons of them to choose from here: http://dx.com/c/car-accessories-799/car-al...09/car-dvrs-735

  17. A flex type lock nut should serve the purpose. All metal so no worries about heat. You'd want to have a couple threads exposed on those as well.
  18. Oh, sorry to hear that. I hope everything turned out ok.
  19. The first thread or 2 on your average bolt are on a taper. For the nylock to have full thread engagement the nylon ring has to be beyond that. Nylocks are usually rated up to about 250 degrees. The nylon ring will either melt or harden and crack in high heat applications.
  20. In order for a Nylock nut to be effective there must be threads exposed beyond the nut. Most don't fare well in high heat applications.
  21. I brought the car into the shop at work and changed the oil. Then on the way home another headlight bulb went out.
  22. Got a remap from Glenn yesterday. To sum it up with one word....... AWESOME!
  23. Well, you could put me in line for one if you ever decide to waste some time.
  24. Somebody had to ask. FWIW, all my emissions control equipment is fully intact and functioning as Mercedes intended.
