About syberden

  1. I have been reading all the questions and answers about the EGR Valve.... I have a 2006 smart. Today I just lost power, it starts fine and as I accelerate it does now shift and the rpm will not exceed 3000rmp. If I shift manually it does shift but still will not exceed the noted rpm. If I leave it in auto it will not shift until I remove my foot from the throttle. I have cleaned the EGR valve once a few years ago... The car has 80,000km. Has always run very well... I was thinking it might be a fuel filter, will change anyway. Any help would be greatly appreciated... thanks..H.syberden.. email hsyberden@yahoo.ca
  2. can anyone tell me where I can purchase the gas shocks (struts) for the rear window on my 2006 smart? Thankyou... Hank Syberden. I have done some research and contacted my local Napa Store... They found some gas struts and they fit perfectly... around $20 each and no shipping... Turbo lift part # 819-5624.
  3. Does anyone know where I can buy 2 rear window shocks, 12in. 30cm. center to center with the shock extended. I do not want to go to Mercedes... thanks H.
  4. Yes it is a Canadian Diesel car. no smoke, starts fine. Reverse gear is fine on cold start up, only when put in a forward gear. Very slow on start up, no rpms. Put the pedal to the floor and it just creeps away, for perhaps 3 or 4 seconds and away she goes, and all is fine.. at the next stop it operates just fine from take off... got me a little puzzled. H.
  5. I am starting to lean toward a clutch adjustment, mechanical or electronic adjustment. I do not believe it to engine oil related. As soon as it reaches operating temp. it operates fine... (Alberta weather) first winter it has stayed in Alberta. If anyone else has had this problem please let me know... Thank you..H.
  6. The car goes to Phoenix for 6 months and the temp. is in the high 30`sC. So I use 5w50 and it has worked just fine. Never uses oil and have never had to add... Hank
  7. 2006 smart. 70,000km. Car has driven very well for the past 6 years. This year when I pulled it out of storage it is very slow on the take off when cold. As soon as it warms up it is fine... has anyone had this problem... I do change oil every 5,000km. I normally do not drive the car in winter. I use 5w50 in summer. You can contact me at hsyberden@yahoo.ca. Thank you...Hank.
