  1. Well diagnosis is in.The car has a bad clutch actuator, and the clutch fork is out of place. So they need to open the transmission up hopefully they don't find anything else. Estimate is $1500 if it doesn't need anything else. If there is more wrong like a clutch the service advisor estimates up to $2500.The wife is getting a little gun shy about Smartie now. We might sell it to try and pay off some debts after it is fixed.Jeremy
  2. Well a couple more hours of laying on the ground in the Bosley's pet store parking lot.-disconnected the battery again and got 3 lines that wouldn't reset-pulled the clutch actuator off to test it -I was fiddling with the part that the actuator pushes on (fork?) and the transmission started to do its learn thing. How much travel is this thing supposed to travel?-On a hunch I tried starting it up and voila it did. But there was no actuator attached and no way to engage the clutch. -Reattached the actuator and still no gears. And still won't start. Damn.In the end I called Three Point Motors and admitted defeat. Its in the shop now service advisor says it will be done tomorrow by noon. I am really hoping its not an expensive fix. My wife is on EI right now due to an injury sustained in a rear-ender. Not any cash set aside for emergencies like this.I'll let you all know what they found. Thanks for all your helpJeremy
  3. I have heard of the updated clutch plate that came out in 2009.I did talk to 3 point when we bought the car and everything seemed to check out. Just regular maintenance. I have no idea if the software was updated. I will call them again. It definitely seems like the clutch actuator isn't doing its job right now. I'll keep this thread up to date with what I find so if this happens to someone else they know it has happened before.ThanksJeremy
  4. First off, thank you for the reply. Now, the car is a 2008, we are the third owners after a NAPA, and one of the guys who works at NAPA. The only issue we have had other than the airbag light is harsh clutch engagement, but we found that only happened for a day or so after you shift at really high rpms, like redline area. I was thinking about pulling the whole clutch actuator and looking inside. I hope it is not a problem with the clutch itself.Jeremy
  5. Ok Update I got the car to start by bypassing the starting circuits and just hot wired the solenoid. So I can make it run, progress. Now when I shift into Drive or Reverse or semi auto the dash is blank where there is normally a D or an R or 1-5. N and P show up but not any gears. Has anyone managed to fix this themselves. Even if I just get it home to work on it I would be happy at this point.ThanksJeremy
  6. Good day allI have searched and google but I've come t the point where I need to pick your brains. My wife's "smartie air" (thats what she calls it) quit on her today. Here is the scenario.-stopped in traffic-took foot off brake and applied accelerator-car bucked like she was rear ended (but she was not) engine stalled-restarted the engine ran for 3 or so seconds then died again-could not restartHere is what I have done.-jumped the car-checked the voltage of the battery 12.4v-ran through the gear positions to re-teach the transmission-checked all the fuses-scanned for codes (none)-disconnected and reconnected the battery-hit the starter (I'm pretty sure it was the starter)What am I missing? Thanks Jeremy
