  1. The filter and separator is available at Canadian tire. You have to take the water in fuel sensor out of the old filter and install in the new filter (very easy to do). The Canadian cars had the filter and separator under the left side belly pan ahead of the rear tire. European cars had a filter only behind the rear right side wheel arch and some Canadian cars have had that added later. There is a white connector in front of the battery that gets corroded and has been known to cause false water in fuel signals. Those with the problem usually cut out the connector and solder the wires together. Here is a link for the filter. https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/certified-fuel-filter-0233401p.1232305.html?loc=plp Also available at German parts.ca for a similar price.
  2. You might want to check with Izzy (Stickman007) as he has bought several units in the last few years. Send him a personal message he’ll be more than happy to share his opinion. Nigel
  3. Hard to beat $55 each I suspect. Many of us have used these guys for parts and they always ship quickly at a reasonable price. https://germanparts.ca/parts/smart/2006/fortwo/pulse-0.8-l-799-cc-l3-diesel/suspension-front/coil-spring/ Nigel
  4. The immobilizer will not turn off if the key is in the on position. When you press the unlock button the parking lights will flash once and the immobilizer will turn off. Press the button a second time and the headlights will come on.
  5. Welcome to the club. Turn the ignition off press the unlock on the key and then turn on the ignition. The immobilizer sets in about a minute every time you turn off the ignition. My locks don’t work either but I’m from the school that you never lock a cabrio as a slashed roof costs more than anything inside. Izzy (Stickman007) on this forum will be your closest smart guru. Although he is in Edmonton he will be much less expensive than the dealer and probably more knowledgeable as well. Let us know how you make out. Nigel
  6. Getfuzzy For the interior lights, the light below the ashtray down for on and up for off. Also make sure the tailgate is latched both sides, mine often doesn’t latch one side unless I close it firmly and the light stays on. Hopefully it’s that simple. Nigel
  7. New EGR valves were stupid expensive for the older diesels we got in Canada. We didn’t get the diesel in the 451 model you have. Once you have the valve out cleaning is not that hard just messy. Probably your best bet would be to join the evilution site as Willys suggests. He has some instructions for this. https://www.evilution.co.uk/mod/45bhp-cdi-egr-clean.htm Nigel
  8. I don’t have either but are you looking for the high pressure pump or the transfer pump that is inside the fuel tank? If you are talking the in tank pump are you sure you need a pump? The common problem there is usually a bad connection at the SAM. Start reading here to understand the issue and there are many more threads on this as well. http://clubsmartcar.com/index.php?/topic/25663-sam-woes-and-how-to-cure-them/#comment-299934
  9. Here are the setup parameters most of us use. http://clubsmartcar.com/index.php?/topic/7011-how-to-program-your-scangauge-to-work-on-the-smart-cdi/&page=1 once you have it set, display both the current fuel economy and the average fuel economy. Then start driving and watch the current number and try to keep it below the average number. Make a game of it and you will see what works best for your terrain.. Manually shift the gears early, lift your foot off the throttle going downhill are two things that work well in my family flat terrain. Nigel
  10. You might want to call Glenn in London. He often has a couple of cars being dismantled. Nigel
  11. Welcome to the club. A sticky wastegate can cause that issue and is pretty easy to remedy. Possible a plugged egr valve as well. Do a search for both on the site and do some reading. Glenn can help you with both if you don’t want to get your hands dirty. Look at top of page for Uncle Glenn in service options.
  12. .

Gliizzzy removed all his posts last evening. I assume we missed something that Mike saw. Nigel
  13. That price is a steal compared to Newmarket area. I bought a little at 226.9 today in Barrie because I refused to pay 219.9 thinking it would be cheaper up the road. Regular is also at least five cents more per litre down here today. Nigel
  14. I didn’t see you post anything about your garage queen finally running.
  15. You are right wagonwheel there is no picture there. I’m sure Willys will comment shortly. He usually checks the site a couple of times a day when he is not away.
  16. I can’t see it either and Mjolinor has over 140 posts so he should be able to see it. I’m using Apple products maybe that is an issue.
  17. Glad to see Izzy got his account sorted and is posting again.
  18. I had one of the Chinese keys linked to my car five or six years ago. One of my fobs stopped working last year but I don’t know if it was the Chinese one or the original. I’ve bought a couple more but Willys has been unable to get my car to accept new keys. I think the issue is with my car but I will try with Glenn next time I see him. Do a search on Amazon and you will find them for about fifteen to twenty dollars each. Nigel
  19. This is where I bought my pair from. 450 and 451 use the same ring but I don’t know about the electric. Hopefully someone with more knowledge can confirm. Maybe you could send a message to MineCooky and ask him as he seems to be the Electric specialist. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/143364182661?hash=item21612bd285:g:RTwAAOSwnEFfvOxh&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAA8CA0Vfac1hJ%2FsWcRJlV2O3WgAcHP%2FStdfPd3BUHvwgAltcklrN%2Ftean%2FPxybl5gxVOwl9RoZ9qBEzxctoSLQPBlfl3%2BZ9X96Z1j6f3BqNo1iIrFifGJPPwxM%2BWwCY%2FdTzYTEtB7VBFG42mSEf9gAFqsJBpGw1TuwQDDYDJBjjamb6NpPaXhlzP252Ew%2ForPcKW4sI8KAffa7buMg8ptEaqPrG7bvdW5OfAOHpP5swdlOlAudzib07bNoMD78l6VW%2FFBSjjdw155eQgy%2B9ffJMku7G%2B%2FtGX0HJ7J1CeFk6K6SkkXrIMlqcx0g9%2FcVVGsY6A%3D%3D|tkp%3ABFBM4qLgh9Ng
  20. Izzy has had some problems accessing the site recently so I don’t know if you can get him through the message service. Here is his info so you can phone or email him directly. Nigel
  21. I’m not sure your car looked that clean when new. Very nice and welcome to the club. Nigel
  22. 155/60r15 is the size for the fronts on the 451. I think you find they are almost identical in circumference
  23. I sure wish Izzy could remember his password.
  24. What’s to comment? Guest Charles asked a question 6 months after javatrek had posted on the topic. If you have a question on an old thread sending a personal message is more likely to get a response. I know I don’t check all the forums I belong to regularly.
  25. Glenn (smart142) used to have some keys from China that the car could be programmed to accept at a reasonable price. You could also try and grab the keys from a scrap car and have your car programmed to accept those remotes. Glenn is in London about an hour from you and his contact info can be found under service options at the top of this page, look for Uncle Glenn. He quite often works weekends if that helps. Nigel
