  1. Please help, I've a 450 CDI 2005, I have no power, it's not in limp mode, I've fully cleaned EGR, injectors, new turbo ,wastegate and actuator, only code showing is a glow plug, it reves to 4500 but so gutless, I'm about to sell the thing it's driving mad, please help if you can, ps even with the new turbo it's only reading 9 psi of boost pressure ☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
  2. Probably too late, but I used a car battery and some 400amp cables, connected 1 side to the aluminium webbing on the motor, and pressed the other cable on the studs, waited for them to glow bright orange, then cool down, and I then simply spun them out with pliers, its basic electrical resistance, worked perfectly
  3. i made a hydrogen fuel cell that drew 45-50 amps and put 6 liters of hydroxy gas per minuet straight into the intake manifold of my old diesel nova and really helped with a boost and power, but i dont think my smarty cdi could do it what with the electronic sniffers and sensors it has, plus it was a bit of a pain and pretty dangerous to be in the trunk/boot, let alone right behind the back seat,be great to make a stable explosive addative that we could mix with diesel to give it a sweet kick,,,,
  4. I was lucky I found a guy in Toronto who had a car with 130000 on it, he gave me turbo manafold assembly, Sam box, rail sensor and 2 injectors for $360, we could only get 2 injectors out the others totally stuck, so she's still got 1 bad injector in it but maybe I can get 1 new nozzle, I didn't know they came seperate 😃
  5. I'm sorry, I don't understand how to use this website, do I just reply to topic, ?????
  6. Turned out I changed 1 injector and the fuel rail sensor at the same time, and the non damaged injector made a vast improvement
  7. Problem solved, it was the injectors, buggered them up first time around by using a wire wheel to clean them, basically destroying the atomiser holes, lesson learned, thx for all the help, and I resoldered the Sam low beam relay yayyyyy, 2 years and 200 hrs labor lol, The actuator arm is factory set, and still has the thread paint on each lock nut, as for observing map readings I don't have equipment for that, I have an obd2 reader can I use that?
  8. So now after installing a new fuel rail pressure sensor, I'm getting 14 psi at 4000 psi, it's like 100 % better and drivable, but still slow off the mark ( not like she used to be) seems like the turbo isn't spooling up until way late, gunna have to look for some smaller leaks, I'll have to check if the wastegate is opening early, or not sealing somehow, I have plenty of preload on it, could the EGR valve cause low boost somehow, it's clean, I have a straight through exaust with no cat,? Running no air filter just for testing..a pair of my wife's stockings lol for now..thx The actuator arm is factory set, and still has the thread paint on each lock nut, as for observing map readings I don't have equipment for that, I have an obd2 reader can I use that?
  9. As you may know tolsen, I've now checked the intercooler, it's good, replaced the injectors, still same, revs up slow, 9 psi boost, I have a new fuel rail pressure sensor gunna try tomorrow, I wonder if I should, start stop car 3 times or is that an old wives tail, or maybe the OEM engine mapping has gone wrong (doubt that though) what about any other sensors, or fuel filter blocked, could something as simple as that cause low boost? any other ideas mate?
  10. Tolsen where is this solenoid or said cut off, that may be my problem?
  11. A p0003 code popped up now, saying about low fuel ctr or something, I had a gut feeling something is happning with fuel, anyone had this code before and find the issue?
  12. I weld pipe for all industries, but anyhow, I'm sooo frustrated, what could only make the turbo boost at 9psi max, the motor revs out, no smoke EGR is clean, injectors clean, air filters clean, exaust is new, turbo, wastegates new properly adjusted, clean fuel, what about fuel pump stuff now, or filters, I got 1 code saying glow plug, but it runs smooth, something is restricting it some where, it's doing my nut in, and I'm too broke to go to MB.
  13. Haha, it's not the intercooler,???? It's fine no holes no chaffing, pressure tested fine, I have no idea
  14. Outside the box thinking, the cars green enough as is, my EGR to manifold pipes male torx bolts are so corroded I can't get them off, so it's a pull everything and drill and tap game it's all the salt on the roads here
  15. I personally bent and made mine out of soft 1/2 inch copper wire the original 2 bolt flange brazed with a 1/2 inch coupling on the end to snugly fit the rubber hose coming off the sump, I was thinking of using 1/4 inch as tube for my supply as it's almost rotten through, I Gota also get on this EGR delete, stupid Canadian laws our are water cooled here.
  16. Ok so I desoldered the spare Sam and put the low beam relay into my one,( should work) now I'm gunna pull the intercooler and hopefully be relieved to see a hole or something, a friend has a spare but I might be able to repair it with marine apoxy or Ac Tig, guess we'll find out in about 4 hrs time.
  17. Your a life saver, thanks Sydney
  18. Hi tolsen, she idles very smooth starts fine, under full load 4th gear let's say 3500-4000, barley at 80kph it's 9psi, as soon as I change to fith it starts to slow down and slowly stops spooling, I've had her for 3 years suddenly 2 years a go lost power, I had no time to look at her but I do now, It's gets worse now, the low beams quit so I got another Sam for test drives at night, lights work fine now but there's that constant flashing key symbol now and the central locking doesn't work so I can't even start it or test drive it, think I'm gunna kill myself...lol
  19. The actuator arm is factory set, and still has the thread paint on each lock nut, as for observing map readings I don't have equipment for that, I have an obd2 reader can I use that?
  20. Ohh btw, I bought the turbo assembly and a Sam from a dude in Toronto that has 3 cars, I paid $260cdn he's in magazines for show cars but doesn't know much about mechanical things, I took 1 of his smart 450 cdis out as he asked me to and holy hell, never been in a vehicle like that, the bottom end torque was unreal, like a gocart, strait through exaust, and a map from Portugal ( where he's from) wow I want my sorry to be that nimble, actually pushed me into the seat, he has a full spare motor for sale on Kijiji right now, well a whole car really, - a turbo and Sam lol
  21. Thanks for the replies sirs.. Presently sat in the scamp having a smoke and beer (in the garage) lol ...well first off I installed the newish turbo manafold assembly as i am a mechanic, well 25 years ago, the wastegate/ actuator has the correct preload and is in mint condition, there's no signs of leakage around the hoses from the turbo to IC nor EGR to IC. From idle in neutral slamming foot to floor it literally takes 1.5 seconds to get from 850 rpm to the limiter at 4600 ish, idles smooth, on the road it's smooth but so slow barley crawls of the line, I can hear the turbo start to spool at around 2800 but I can tell it's not spreading its wings so to speak, it doesn't whistle,it's not getting up there like before, maybe I need that star obd2 reader for some kind of sensor, or could it be low fuel, it doesn't smoke, the clutch is adjusted good, no 3000rpm limp nonsense, as my onboard turbo gauge reads 3000rpm I'm getting 9 psi boost and that's it, the EGR is mint clean smooth operation, the solenoid pushes back crossing terminals 1+5 with 12v power, maybe the intercooler crap I Gota check out, but I don't see oil seepage anywhere, as intercoolers to carry a little after a while.. Ohh bugger my beers getting warm...thx guys
  22. Would like to start a thread regarding running chipfat in my smart common rail, been running 75-25% for months now, with brown gas directly into the intake, very clean burn injectors are perfect, ran this setup in england for 3 years, just a heads up, will keep you posted as the weather gets warmer, the results will be cheaper
  23. So I picked up a 2005 silver 450cdi passion, I thought as I did back in the UK I could run veg oil with little to know issues as I am a mechanic, being bosh everything fuel system I could run 50/50 oil and derv, the car had sat for 3 years not ran at all, so new battery needed, had to drop the motor and installed recon alternator as it had seized (bought car for $1800cdn btw) so I didn't mind chucking a few bucks into it, all back together, not charging grrrrrr, pulled motor and alt again got another all good, ran her for about 3 months like this, then the problems started, pump would trip, go into limp mode, black smoke like defcon 5 then the loss of power, now it hardly idles. Anyway I pulled the injectors, and the intercooler, and the egg, all were extremely gummy and full of crud, so I cleaned the whole system out fully even the intake manifold with wire, note...I was getting some boost from the turbo also, put it all back together,, grrrr SAME as, and I noticed with foot to floor the actuator arm didn't move and I could hear the turbo trying to pump, but no more black smoke, I thought the turbo was shot exaust side as I had inspected the compressor blades, so I figured that was the issue, undone the exaust bolts snapping both of and just for the hell of it gave the exaust a bj, yep blow with my lips......volla so blocked I could hardly blow through it, the cdn model doesn't have a simple cat in the down pipe so it's blocked fully in the baffles, im gunna slice it open with a zip disk pull the guts out and see what happens, but yea for the money saved in veg oil is just not work the pain in my rear to do this every 3 months, just wanted to let you owners know this, yours David b
  24. I had the codes read and there was 3 regarding the egr this time, gunna try and re clean that again today, there was no mention of boost issues? Driving me nuts now
  25. So everything is done now, the car doesn't smoke, but I think it's in safe mode now, it's smooth but very low on power now, smoothly Revs past 3000rpm, just gutless I think I'm going to have to get codes read and then deleted. I hope this will reset the computer and restore the darn thing
