  1. That would be nice to do for sure. Seems to not do it as much now just once to work and once on way home. Really need to get some free time to get to the coast and scavenge some parts and install a deck. Glad to get 2 days of driving fully before fuel up. Props to anyone who get 500 or more km to a tank when driving 100km/h or slightly higher doing highway driving. Not going to happen for me. Also just noticed how big the dash is, too bad there wasnt a way when designed to give more storage up front. Also was there not a rear storage compartment in the tailgate for the 450? Was it only available on a certain model smart?
  2. I was told to press and hold the tp button I believe it was. seems like it needs to be done quite frequently when you are driving my route to and from work that is.
  3. will be very happy to get rid of this stock radio. it switches stations quite regularly now even when holding that button to turn it off. Oh well not a big deal, after a close super fill I got 464 km to the tank, forgot to grab gas receipt but pretty sure that it was 21L of fuel. What site or way do you calculate your mpg or l/100 km. Last time I posted a mpg I was off by almost 10 mpg apparently
  4. Interesting to know about the intercooler, that is unfortunate for sure...hope I don't have that issue anytime soon. Can you weld your existing muffler to help extend the life of it?? Maybe get some form of an aftermarket muffler, although that will be pricey I am sure. Fitting a stock muffler from something else will be cheaper, don't think it will change or affect the sound or running of the car either. I hope I don't need to crawl under the crawl for a bit, started shed building today, the back definitely feels things more than it use to, damn I need a hot tub!! Hope to get most of it done tomorrow minus the door and maybe the window.
  5. With the extra couple L you can squeeze into the tank by rocking it, that will make a difference in making me be able to get 2 full days of driving in I believe. Willys- What is this intercooler rad thing a ma gig?
  6. Serenity- Are you doing almost all of your driving on the highway doing 100 or slightly higher like I am? I have bought my fuel at either Husky/Mohawk or Petro Canada. What is the "proper way to shift in your opinion?''
  7. I email Malone, just have to see if they will respond. I don't have any black soot that us noticeable behind me when I drive. If I get the $ back I will definitely try a different map out. Wonder if they can be easily customized slightly if you wanted by Eddie? Or if it is just a set reMap that is it
  8. May need to try a fuel additive also I suppose. will have to be what I can get at local crappy tire though so kleen flo or diesel power I think it was called the grey bottle.
  9. Air filter is new. Driving was usually @ 95-110km/h. Briefly hit 120. Never any wind on the drive to work, was some wind on the one day driving home. I am also noticing more of a lag between shifts that I didnt noticed before or after the remap. I just sent Malone an email describing my concern with the more noticeable lag between shifts from 3-4 and 4-5 gear. Not sure what they will say, I was told in an original email that I would be refunded if I was not happy, no idea if that would happen though. I don't want to pay for another remap to be done to the car. I trusted their tune based on the high recommendation from VW owners. Plus I could get it done local vs driving down to the coast. Small difference in hp and trq between Malone and Flying Tiger reMap. Maybe I should have waited till I made a trip down their? Too late now though, unless I can get a refund then I would go get a different reMap. Has anyone tuned their own car and played with the reMap? If the car had a bit more torque to do a bit better on hills I would be happier, but as it is now it does the job just have to drop a gear or lose 5-10km/h
  10. 421.7km travelled used 23.215L my horrible math and mpg calculator states that is 42.73 mpg, 5.51/ 100km
  11. Will try bumping car when I go get fuel tonight. Think I will be at 2.5L left roughly at that point. So will try to remember receipt so I have a reference to go from
  12. yup i fill up slow and get 2-3 $ more in after first click at least. Today was first time I had the 5L light come on down to 3L now going to fuel up when I head out shortly. will have to check trip odometer but this time it might be over 400km!?
  13. Tolsen- Interesting about removing rear sway bar...never would have thought about that. I will have to look on fq101 or evilution about the removal, as I am sure it is on one of those sites. Drove more modest speed today, especially to work I barely broke 100 I think. already at half way mark will lose that bubble halfway to work tomorrow at best. I praise the people on here with a cdi that do highway commuting and get 500km or more to a tank, it looks like there is no chance in hell I get close to those numbers, which just means 3 fill ups a week instead of the 2 I was hoping for
  14. interesting, I will have to try and find a thread about that old members car....to read about it if he made any posts that is
  15. killer deal on the ball jonts and they came with new hardware, which is a bonus. For sure will take some time getting use to everything, still a fund drive just the wind makes you really need to hold on more so than usual
  16. think I had wrong smart car...torque for the 05 is max 107 trq
  17. huronlad- that would be nice to tweak it without having to pay. I like the remap, more torque would be nice for a couple of the hills seems to just get by doing speed, at least it doesnt drop! But I know there are limitations with the car it is a .8L car after all. The power box seems nice as you can dial it up or down quite easily, and they seem to give a heck of a lot more torque vs just a simple reMap. I will probably stay status quo, don't want to harm the motor or stress it out to become unreliable.
  18. well this is a cube box on wheels haha. wind on highway does push you all around, no relaxation while driving. Had to fill up drove maybe 25km on 1 circle...got 310.5km to the tank. Hoping that improves obviously but still can barely put $20 in @128.9 for diesel. Have to go get some additive and try that to see if I can improve this mileage, wont make 2 days to work and back on a tank by the looks of it. Driving speeds will range from 90-120 on the hwy all depends on traffic. Happy how it drives other than the bread box feeling, going to have to source different rims and find the max size tire that will fit on them to try and improve the handling. Gusts definitely push you a couple feet on the road. But hey, made it day 1 of the new work round trip, just need to see how the km to a tank goes on this one, next tank come the weekend should get some additive.
  19. Tolsen- That is true, but once you have a reMap done, this powerbox won't do much? In theory it should still increase the torque quite a bit but not much hp gain. Is anyone running a reMap and powerbox setup? How is it and what difference do you see from just having it run with just a reMap? I will try to google more info about both being run on a smart car. But now it is time to make some coffee, back the work bag and start the first leg of the 170km drive
  20. No need for it now with a reMap done, plus sounds like this hasn't been a popular option for quite some time for the Smart. The torque #s are impressive though
  21. http://www.tdc-technologies.com/?route=information/static&m=smart&mo=Smart &t=Smart fortwo &kw=40&typ=CR&hp=53&torque=96&nm=130 Anyone tried any of from the above link recently? Seems like big gains, especially for the torque
  22. gonna check in with petrolabs to see if they sell somewhere local as well. Or will have to order online or could wait till my next trip to the coast and stop in to get some
  23. Kleen flo or diesel kleen not sure which one I will get
  24. Not a bad idea LLN, Will have to get a jug of kleen flo or the other kind before I need to fuel up which could be tomorrow evening or Wednesday morning.
  25. No more clunking sound!! Now just time to start the 170km daily round trip with this beast of a car!
