  1. Thought I'd start a thread for humorous and/or thoughtful postings about life in general. Please keep everything in good taste. I hope this becomes a daily draw and brings lots of past Smart members back to the site, along with newbies also. So, here we go.....

  12. Once again it’s coming up to that time of year when some of us die-hard, tried-and-true Smarties take part in the annual Harvestfest Parade in Lambeth, Ontario. This year marks the 40th anniversary of Harvestfest, the unofficial beginning of the Fall season (oh no, say it ain’t so). This year’s event will track thru town on its original course, now that all the road construction has wrapped up, so it will be longer than last year’s parade. Also different this year will be the date. It will be held a bit earlier, on Saturday, August 31st. This is the Saturday of the Labour Day Weekend. Some may find this date harder to attend, while others may actually find it easier. Organizers had to change the date in order to use the Community Centre for Harvestfest activities as in years past, before the ice service goes in on Sept 01st. As in years past, line-up begins at 9:00 with the parade starting at 10:00. Once again the organizers stress NO PEANUTS and NO PEANUT CONTENT in any candy handed out to the crowd, plus they also stressed “handed out to the crowd” and not tossed, thrown or whipped at the crowd. Damn, and I had a point system all worked out. 😇 Liz and Glenn are inviting everyone to a BBQ at there place in Lambeth after the parade. They will have beef on a bun and a salad. BYOB and other goodies of your preference. LCA MAP.pdf SIGN-UP 1) Bill 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) 7) 8) 9) 10)
  13. Sorry for the increase in blood pressures all around. Didn’t know this idea had been chewed over and spit out long ago.
  14. This idea might have shown up earlier, but it looks good for slow-speed towing. Maybe a larger, swivelling wheel&tire would work for general use.
  15. Once again, thanks to my magnetic personality, charming demeanour, flawless dance moves and overall good looks, I have again been able to set up a Smart Car night at the weekly Plunkett’s Shown’Shine, in conjunction with the Hyde Park and District Lions Club. I requested and we have reserved Thursday, August 08th. I’ve also requested and reserved our placement around the lake, as in years past. I hope as many Smarts as possible an come out. After all, this is our only real charity effort as a club (entry by donation). Plus we all do our best to eat as many hamburgers and hot dogs as possible...... also for charity. The Lion’s Club VP requested that I guarantee good weather on behalf of the Smart Car Group. I told him that just driving our little cars brings out sunshine both in us and in others, and told him we’d do our best. Their event has been rained out and/or cancelled the past 6 consecutive weeks, including tonight. Make a note. Reserve the date. Thursday August 08th. See y’all there.
