Hi EveryoneLast night someone drove past my smart car and smashed out the rear window. I'm wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if they know the next step I should take to repair it. Is it a repair that has to be done at a smart car dealership? Or do you think I can get it fixed at an auto glass place? I live 3 hours from the nearest smart dealer :(Jessica

Did you get your cheque yet? I applied on the eve of the day the application was due (October 1st). They received my application on October 9th. Near the end of November I phoned and the guy told me to RESEND my entire application because he said something was wrong with the first one. I did that, and sent it express mail. I called back a couple weeks later and was told that the first guy shouldn't have told me that, and he had no way of knowing whether or not my application was wrong.I've called in total about 6 or 7 times. I've requested 3 callbacks from the place that actually cuts the cheques. Every time I call they just keep telling me that the wait time is 6-8 weeks...I've waited 13 weeks.Anyone else out there still waiting???

I guess they're not doing first received first paid!!!
-
Someone took the time to cut this out of the newspaper, stick it in an inneroffice envelope and address it to me at work. Not sure who it came from - but they were quite happy they found it for me!
-
And I sent my application on October 1st - the day it was available!!!!When I call them tell me that I will get the letter and 3-6 weeks later I'll get the cheque - but still no letter!
-
I wouldn't worry about it. I mailed my application on October 1st and still haven't heard anything. I phoned on Thursday and they said to wait 1 more week.
-
I guess 'cause I'm from Ontario I'll get my letter a bit later, but I emailed my application on October 1st...I called them yesterday and they said the process is that I'd get a letter first, and then I'd have to wait 6-8 more weeks for the cheque. At least it'll be here before Christmas!

I mailed mine October 1st at 7pm. It should be there by now. Just for kicks I phoned the ecoAuto hotline yesterday and spoke to a guy who said that he thinks that they "only have a few so far", but still said that estimated time to receive the cheques is 4 to 6 to 8 weeks. I'm REALLY hoping for an end of month payout...I could use the cash before November 1st.

Does the rack come off easily then? I like having access to my trunk!
-
So you can open the top of the hatch but not the bottom? I don't understand how that works. Does someone have a picture of their glass open with the bike rack attached???
-
Someone tell me about the bike rack. How much is it? Do I have to have it installed at a smart centre? Can you still open the trunk? Is it easy to mount your bike on and off? Is it just to hold one bike? I'm starting to get more interested in biking but most of the trails are a little too far. Having a bike rack would help out tremendously. Please give as much info as possible! Thanks!

When I bought my smart on May 11 I inquired about those MB boxes and they priced them over $60 each. Just a warning

Hi ReginaThanks for the congrats :)Here is a quote from wikipedia about the bridge:"Two vehicles have gone off the bridge: a 1987 Yugo was blown off the bridge during a particularly bad windstorm in 1989 (high speed may have also been to blame), and a sport utility vehicle drove off the bridge in March 1997 (which may have been a suicide)."Nowadays there is a big informational sign that warns drivers about high winds and sometimes even stops bridge traffic during really bad storms. The bridge is a few hours south of us and we don't cross it often. We had rough winds all the way home but for some reason when we crossed that bridge everything calmed down. There is an inside lane that is a grate instead of solid pavement and they did that to prevent the bridge from swaying from side to side. I think in doing that they may have helped the wind situation for smaller cars.Anyway, after talking to Ryan about that (it was one of my first questions when learning about the smart) he said it's impossible for the car to blow over, something to do with the esp. After he said the car couldn't blow over I have to admit I didn't listen completely to the reason...I'm sure someone on the forum can explain :)Kozy

We took a picture in advance just in case we did blow off, so that people would know what our cool little car looked like :)I love this car! But I do not love the bugs in Macinaw City (yuck)

Yay!We were at the dealership for awhile because we had to wait for the horn to be installed...but I didn't care! We took pictures and Ryan gave us all our stuff (including an ENORMOUS calendar that I had to send home with my Dad). Cujo got a shoulder bag for a sweet discounted price and I got a keychain. Ryan gave me the 30 minute tour of the car and we were off. At first I was pouty because in St. Catharines the people are used to the vehicle so we didn't get any of the attention I was expecting But as we drove farther and farther from the city we got more and more weird looks and pointed fingers. The most awkward situation had to be when we were waiting to turn left at an intersection in Sarnia and the light turned yellow and we sort of got stuck in the centre of the intersection and all of these cars from all different directions were staring and laughing. We're in Birch Run now after about 5 hours of driving. We'll do the other 4 hours tomorrow, we're too tired at this point. We had two Americans stop us in Port Huron and ask a million questions. I was driving past a small little gas station restaurant and I could see one of them with an enormous grin standing in the middle of the restaurant looking out the window. Before I knew it he was outside asking me all about the car. Another guy joined us and he was excited about the cars "coming back to America". Both of them kept mumbling "get used to it, this is the way of the future". Then we had a pack of bikers drive past and give us the thumbs up.Then there were the people that would hover beside us on the highway until we made eye contact so they could give us a grin and continue on.Another guy in a huge white van tailgated us on a completely empty road so they could read what the name of the car was.My favourite part of the day so far has been filling up for the first time. We both got out of the car to do it and I opened the fuel cap while Cujo read the pump. All of sudden we hear a voice that says "UHHHHH DO YOU WANT DIESEL". We yelled back "YEP" and he left us alone. When we went inside to pay the guy didn't say much, just sort of stared at us. Cost just under $15.00 - fantastic!Anyway, we're having a blast and I'm excited to get home and share it with the Sault!!!
