  1. I am considering a SMART for the fuel savings, I have test drove a few. I have a few questions that will help in my buying decision. I am looking for a diesel only.Is the smell of diesel in the cab a common thing, it was a cabrio? Two of the ads I phoned the cars had replaced engines, both Diesels with under 80,000 km. Is engine life a concern?Does anyone know when the Diesel engine is wore out?Is their any changes from 2005 to 2006?How does strong winds affect them? I live in Calgary which can have windy days. One of the cars had a plug-in where the cord attached through the front bumper. Is this the pan heater or other? How are they to start when sitting outside on cold winter days?If anyone from Calgary reads this, is there quality Calgary service other than Mercedes?I am sure I will think of more but that is all for now. Thanks, Ken
  2. Jesse, I live in Calgary and would like to know more about your car. I have sent you a PM.thanks,Ken
  3. Thanks for all the input!I am seriously looking at one of these. I currently drive a Ford 1/2 ton. I filled it up with gas today, 52 L, 345 km, $52.Based on the 4 L/100 km I could have driven 1300 km for less then this as diesel is $.04 / L less then regular. And I would have created less pollution )Cheers,Ken
  4. I am considering the purchase of a Smart car. I have the following questions.1. Do these start well when the temperature is colder than -15 C ?2. What are they like on the hiway, through the mountains?3. Is there an after market option for a middle arm rest?4. When I test drove one yesterday it felt skddish around a bumpy corner. Are they?5. Does the heater produce sufficient heat in the winter time, -15 C or colder?6. Is it realistic to perform some of the maintenance on these at home? I am reasonable in the garage and do perform oil changes, air filter, fuel filter and the like.7. I have heard the tires are expensive due to the size. Is this true?8. I have two dealer choices in Calgary, does one stand above the other?Any input would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Ken
