  1. Maybe I'll check with the MB dealer here in Melbourne..... just in case.
  2. That was interesrting The Canadian Smart owner has the benefit of a dealer base &support. I too prefer the look of the MB Smart but am not aboutto enter into a purchase where I don't even know who will work on my car.I don't work on my vehicles & don't expect to start now. Am I happy that the new Smart is more bland? No Do I wish thatI could purchase a diesel Smart? YesWhat doesn't make sense is to pay a premium price for a vehiclewhich may bring you nothing but headaches. I'm sure that mostof these vehicles will perform with little or no problems. That said,I still want to be able to go to a local dealer with trained mechanicsif there is a problem.Add to that the possibility that I may get into the Smart for 10K less? Now is that Smart or what?
  3. That was at an out of state dealer priced at $21,900.... another dealer (50 miles away)is asking $24,900. I may drive over there just to see & test drive the vehicle. The local dealer is ordering them in lots of 15 at a time.
  4. That's the image on the side of the trailer.........
  5. Thanks for the info & advice all. Once I compared the two I liked the interior more & definitely the colors. Oh well.....back to waiting.
  6. Toyota of Melbourne was where I got my xA
  7. I'm wondering the same thing! I haven't purchased yet but was told that any Mercedes Benz dealer would service the vehicle.Warranty... 3 years $750..... Any info folks?
  8. Welcome to the club slowpoke!! I'm a Smart Wanna-be too, living in Florida. I keep playing with the idea of getting a modified (US) current model but worry about warranty work. I know that there is a dealer in Maryland & I also found one in Palm Beach, Florida. Just a bit of a trek for regular warranty work & I wonder about parts. I like the interior of the older model & some of the colors are fantastic!!
  9. The new mileage ratings have been published so I checked mine. 2006 Scion xA, 5 speed manual used to be; 32 city 37 highway now 27 34 My real life average is just under 32 with roof racks & the AC on a great deal of time. I also drive with my foot in it. If they are rating the new Smart at 40 then it just might be higher... LINK PS. They don't list the Smart
  10. The gain is always that it costs less to charge your batteries....in this case... to pump up your tanks, than it does to runa vehicle on the road.
  11. Link to a review on another site.
  12. The Cube has been in Nissan's Japanese offerings since 1998.
  13. Smarty Bottom!!!!!
  14. Yes, but I don't know if it is simply a local ordinance or somethingstate wide. My guess would be local but I remember warning signsboth in Miami (born & raised) and up here in Indialantic.Sorry.... I'm talking metered, street parking.... not in the localBest Buy....
  15. In Florida we have only one, back, license plate. If you back in the "metermaid" has to get off their cart to check your plate. You will get a ticketunless you park head in.
  16. These look so nice!! I'll have a shirt before I have a Smart!!
  17. It simply seems so short sighted. If the large percentage of petroleumis being provided from an area of historic instability... where's the security?I feel that after the whole hostage crisis & gas shortage that America shouldhave entered into a "NASA like" endeavor to develop alternative energy. Thealternative is to fight wars so that "big oil" may reign supreme. They get record profits while the citizenry contribute tax dollars & the bloodof their children! Now we are pushing technology for some answers but imagineif this had been done for the past 30 years. Our little Smarts might all be hydrogen powered, or air powered
  18. Watched the 4th season as my first & got caught in the 24web!! After the season was over I immediately purchasedthe first three from Ebay. The GF & I were in 24 hog heaven.I read that it was picked up for two more seasons....
  19. Welcome Matt... I'm on the list too! Guess I'm simply not fully"American" as I have never liked the whole SUV craze. I did have aToyota Tacoma for a few years though.I have always enjoyed small cars, my past vehicles included;MG MidgetAusten Healey "bugeye" spriteMGBMGBGTFiat 124 SpiderVW Karmann GhiaI purchased my Scion xA when gas first went crazy & thoughtthat it was the closest thing to a Smart available in the statesat the time. Hope that the next few months breeze right by and that theselling price remains in the neighborhood of what is advertised!
  20. US? Yup... I live here but sometimes I wonder! The dangers inherent in being completely dependent upon oil should have been obvious after 1979. Be it for national security, the environment or the pocketbook..... I just can't see the reason (other than profits) that there is so much resistance to developing alternative energy.
