  1. Well tonight I reached my goal.

    My first tank of fuel was: 234mi / 376km = dismal :(

    Seven tanks of fuel was: 300mi / 482km = better B)

    Seventeen tanks of fuel was: 372mi / 598km = more better :)

    Twenty one tanks of fuel was: 401mi / 645km = great :D

    So I have now reached my goal and I have achieved this by driving steady and keeping my max speed at the posted speed limits which are mostly at 25mph=40km/h, 40mph=64km/h, 55mph=88km/h.

    I have driven roughly 40% city and 60% highway with air conditioning running with each fill up around 90-100% May through August and 30-50% September through October.

    Once I install my cruise control my mileage should improve at the most 10-15% better but I'm guessing here.

  2. I'm tipping the odometer at 6,000 miles and here are my observations:Problems:1) Taken to Dealer 3 times to adjust Sunscreen before they replaced it. Once replaced. No more problem.2) Poor Dealer Service. Will do most of my maintenance but do have a fantastic MB Dealership so I'll give them some of my business.3) Arguing wither dealership over the left drivers mirror that vibrates more than the right side mirror which is rock solid.4) Wiper hit tridion cell on high speed but only when in conjunction with high head winds. Need to further investigation.Positives:1) Getting better and better gas mileage all the time. Last tank was 46mpg but haven't updated my spiritmonitor lately.2) The smart has exceeded most of my expectations and am very pleased with it's overall performance.3) No other problems... at the moment.

  3. You don't need to drill, there's two holes in the back of the seat bracket and you put the screws in there, the nuts behind. It's actually not very easy but you'll need a box end wrench to hold the nut and allen head wrench to tighten it. It takes patience and holding your body in un-natural positions. I actually gave up and took the seat out where I can work comfortably.You get what you pay for and at 158 Euros for leather and aluminum brackets it's really not bad. People are paying $500-ish for cruise control and it must be worth to to them but that's a lot to avoid working the throttle yourself.

    Yes you can count me as one of the cruise control purchasers.

    I've seen those before but do like the leather ones above more.I guess someday I'll just have to shell out the dough.

  4. At SCOA there are a few threads about this problem but I'll tell you about my experience and what you may expect. I had to take my car back to the Dealership for the sunscreen coming off of the track THREE times before they replaced it. They finally determined that the sunscreen that was in my car was warped, crooked, skewed so no amount of "adjusting" would have fixed the problem. This was over a span of 4 months. When I was there another person was there for the same thing but theirs had only come off the track once and theirs was being replaced too, so you can expect that your sunscreen to be replaced. I also heard a rumor that the sunscreens are to be redesigned and I had inquired at a couple of Dealerships, one said they knew of a redesigning of the sunscreen while the other did not so it may or may not be true... Hope this information helps you.

  5. Yes welcome and Lambo doors are pretty much played out but in regards to the smart... I think that they are an improvement if you really want to park close or don't want to accidentally hit the other vehicle because the smart doors are kinda 'BIG'. Welcome... Looking forward to seeing your mods.

    It cost $9.99 USD and I trial fit it and it will work just fine. You will just need to trim it to your desired length and then you have some left over to put on the back hatch glass if you want to. Hope this helps.

    July 17, 2008 Britain's Axon claims that its newly patented mass-production techniques will make carbon composite car frames and bodywork even cheaper than their metal counterparts - and only 40% as heavy. What a revolutionary technology this could be - the power to weight ratio of any vehicle on the planet could be dramatically increased for no extra cost! The company plans to release a highly affordable 500cc passenger car making at least 100mpg from a basic petrol engine in 2010, and Axon is confident its simple, lightweight solution to the fuel economy challenge will be highly competitive against the big competition in the Progressive Automotive X-Prize contest.

    It's been common knowledge for decades the carbon-fiber composites offer the strength of steel with only a fraction of the weight - but they're still viewed as exotic materials because of the high cost of traditional manufacturing techniques. And since it's been cheaper and more marketable to boost engine power than to look at making lighter cars, most manufacturers have stuck with steel and aluminum.

    But carbon fiber specialists at Axon believe their new mass-manufacturing process can make carbon fiber frames and bodywork even cheaper than their metal counterparts. To back up their claims, they company plans to release this 2-seater, 500cc passenger car in 2010 at "an affordable price" - and they're aiming for more than 100 mpg from a simple, small 500cc engine, simply because it will be so light.

    If Axon, which presented displayed its platform as part of the FoS-Tech pavilion at this year's Goodwood Festival of Speed, can prove that carbon composites can be as cheap and reliable as steel or aluminum, the same technology could generate massive efficiency increases in cars from other manufacturers around the world - although the cost of switching over from metal could prove a killer for established automakers. Still, while the average buyer is still more likely to pay extra for a more powerful car than a more efficient one, a technological advance of this kind could mean a huge increase in performance for no extra price - and that's the sort of thing car buyers will respond to.
