  1. Hey, another Bergen County person! Welcome to the club
  2. Generally speaking NJ has cheaper gas than the surrounding states however :)At rest stops along the NJ Turnpike (I-95), and Garden State Parkway they are pretty serious about the "Don't pump your own gas". A few weeks ago the attendent told a customer that if he tried to pump his own gas the police would be notified.
  3. I'm 6'4" and I solve the problem of seeing traffic lights by either pulling forward enough I can see them through the roof, by staying back enough they stay view. Usually I end up moving my head a bit regardless of what I do. It was annoying at first but I'm used to it and don't really notice it anymore.
  4. I've had my smart since the middle of January of this year. I have just a bit over 5,000 miles (8,000km) on it. I've had no problems so far. I'm 6'4" 250lbs and I'm comfortable in it. The rear view mirror is some times annoying, but not so much that I feel the need to do something about it. If it's blocking my view I move my head a little and I'm ok. With the AC on full blast and driving about 50% highway at 70-75mph, 50% local I'm getting 37MPG (6.3l/100km). I've gotten as high as 45mpg (5.2l/100km) going slower with no AC.I chose the smart because of it's looks, small size, and just because it's different. Overall I'm happy with my choice. If the smart was my only car I might have looked at other vehicles, but I find it hard to find a car that has enough head room so my choices are limited. I go to work 8 miles each way, and on weekends drive about 100miles (160km) each way to see friends. If I did a lot of long distance driving I would be happier with a car that had more interior room, and a quieter ride.
  5. I've had my car since middle of January of this year, I've got 4,800 miles (7,700km) and I've not had any problems. If I have any problems I'll post them here on CsC.
  6. I've had my 451 since January of this year. I've no experience with a 450. I've put 4,500 miles (7,200km) on it and I'm happy with it. It's what I expected it to be. Is it as smooth, roomy, or powerful as a big V8 luxury car? No, but it's not meant to be that. I'm happy with the mileage I get, highest so far 46mpg (5.1 l/100km), lowest 32mpg (7.3l/100km). It goes on the highway fine, it's great around town. I can't ask for more.
  7. Recently I heard from a dealer here in the USA that for 2009 they will have fire engine red and metalic orangeish-bronze as color choices for the body panels.I don't know if this is common knowledge, or good or bad info but I thought I'd share it.
  8. 0.7 MPG... Isn't that twice what an M1A2 gets? I thought one of the reasons the German Army went with the diesel engine rather than a gas turbine was fuel economy.I hope you don't mind me asking this, but ignoring the hard work that goes along with it, is driving a tank as much fun as it looks??
  9. Interesting! Thanks for sharing.
  10. Congratulations!!!!!!Your car looks great! I'm really happy for you. I'm sure you'll get miles of joy!
  11. I was there on Saturday and the smart display was next to the Lotus display. More people were looking at and interested in the smarts than the Lotus cars.
  12. Woohoo finally getting your smart! I can't wait to hear what you have to say about it!
  13. I've had my smart 451 for about two weeks now and filled it up twice. Today I took a 189 mile highway drive and I got 43.5MPG (5.4l/100km), my tank was just around town going to work, about 1/3 highway 1/3 around town and got 36mph (6.5l/100km)
  14. I've had my 2008 smart for about two weeks now. No problems but the dealer did check the handbrake cable. Apparently a small number of cars have had some sort of issue. I'm happy with the milage. I got 43.5 MPG (5.4l/100km) on a 190 mile all highway trip, and got 36mpg (6.5l/100km) back and forth to work which is mostly around town.
  15. 1) I don't know of a link2) Fog lights can be turned on as long as the parking lights are on3) My insurance company gave me no problems4) Not sure if the horn is dual tone, but I like the way it sounds. There is no option for the horn as far as I know.
