  1. I know of one that made it to 310,000 then was destroyed in a collision. That one had the Flying Tiger remap too. My former green and black one has 247,274 km when it was taken out by a Pontiac.
  2. About 5000 km in so far and four up with 4 people and luggage it's averaging 6.3 L/100 km lifetime with a combination of high speed driving on Autobahns and city....with some country road work. I do like the car.....and tomorrow we lose two passengers and their stuff so the FE should improve. We should be at 7000+ km when the car is returned in 11 days. More detailed info later.
  3. I've not, but it has occurred to me that making cheese from bear milk could be a good Canadian enterprise. B'AR CHEESE! The trick is who will volunteer to milk the bear.......
  4. What I worry about - a little - is supporting the economy of that godawful regime. It's already so powerful that their special brand of democracy is likely to gain favour in other countries "in order to compete" with the juggernaut. Chinese goods are all over the map on quality too.
  5. Peugeot may be sooner, likely 2022-23
  6. At Reims-Gueux at a former racetrack The new model 208 is not for sale yet so we got a loaded run-out model of the old version. It's very nice. Some highlights: 1.2L 3 cylinder 110 HP gas engine 6 speed manual glass roof (the whole thing) air/tilt/cruise reversing camera with distance settings forward looking laser for distance control and much more The car pulls like a train and so far 192 km/h is the top speed I've seen (120 MPH) but over 200 should be possible, to be tested tomorrow. It's quiet, fun to drive and well made. Cost of the car per day is $35. Should get the L/100 average down to under 6 eventually, but the balls-out Autobahn driving has not been helping with that!
  7. I bought mine new and I am not as concerned about the cost of dealer parts. Third owners etc usually see the car as disposable and therefore rebel at the idea of spending any money on them.
  8. In Canada at least I expect the dealers will supply parts indefinitely.....or that's what M-B is reputed for.....
  9. Haha I looked, I swear! Anyhow mine has more replies
  10. ...and...that's all she wrote......https://techcrunch.com/2019/04/29/daimler-pulls-the-plug-on-electric-smart-car-sales-in-u-s-canada/
  11. It's official - the plug has been pulled from the few electric smarts that were trickling into Canada and the USA. The last ones for this market will be built in June 2019. 15 years, not too bad. The last few were dismal though. https://techcrunch.com/2019/04/29/daimler-pulls-the-plug-on-electric-smart-car-sales-in-u-s-canada/
  12. Sandy and I are heading off to Europe Tuesday. On Thursday AM we will pick up a new Peugeot 208 hatchback at Porte St-Cloud in Paris and be off on the latest ride around Europe and GB. Although this is a smaller and much cheaper car than the sporty RCZ we had in 2014, it should be fun. The car will be taken to GB and IRL as well. So watch for a 208 on red French plates, if you're over there! I'll report in more depth on the car in June when we're home.
  13. We're going to be in Scotland in two weeks. Should we bring snowshoes?
  14. My Kugelfischer KF2 injection pumps - the one from the car is second from left. The stainless steel trims from front and rear windscreens as well as the back of the roof buttresses. Rear bench seat in light grey leather.
