  1. Update. Moved arm on splined wiper motor shaft back(?) a notch or two. All working just fine now. Lubed and greased exposed bits. Didn't drop shafts to clean/lube. Next step to get rid of airbag warning. Vacuumed under seats and must have disconnected something. Like to think Smart Car is better than 'Luminosity'. Keeps brain working.
  2. Wipers began to work with a little help... So electric issues set aside. Ran wipers with arms raised, when I shut off they returned to stop position but continued to jump/chatter at stop(like the motor and actuator were jumping a gear). Removed front clip (always a joy) and after some investigation was able to get the motor to stop if I pushed the actuator back a cm. If I release it the motor and actuator begin to chatter/jump cogs again. Plan to remove motor (more joy) and work wipers manually while lubing all joints. I hope this will allow motor to stop at the correct position.
  3. Wipers can move by hand. Washer works. Trying to save some effort by using collective knowledge. PS: Smart loves snow. Just not 40cm. all at once
  4. Just got my '05 Cabrio on road after some help from stickman07. removed EGR per posts. Runs fine. Had some snow in BC, wipers wouldn't do their thing. Washer motor operates. Assume wires were disconnected when new battery installed. Looking for some ideas where to look.
  5. Bought a stamped flange ($2.50)from Princess Auto (Kelowna), hex head plug ($0.53)from Lordco. Drilled pan and welded flange on. Seems to work. Doesn't protrude too much (about 1/4 inch).
  6. I understand ALLDATAdiy may have service 'manual' available this fall (November). Probably won't cover diesels if there aren't any available in the states. I'm assuming they will cover 451's.I've found Evilution from the UK to be interesting.
  7. Had an '05 Hyundai Elantra. Reliable. 42MPG avg. highway. No mechanical issues. Relatively inexpensive dealer service in Vernon. Sold it because seats were uncomfortable. Bouhgt a Vibe (like it) and have just purchased an '06 Cabrio diesel. Like it. Still too new to judge or advise but feel the Smart will please you. Look on Kijiji. Lots of them available. Do your homework. Good hunting.
