About Rihotek

  1. Sorry guys, the captain can't spare the time this weekend to go sailing. Hopefully we can do something similar next year.Plan "B"-Tour of Kingston Penitentiary museum-An hour walk along the waterfront-A mini tour of the 18th century boat and photo ops-Burgers and beer at the Portsmouth TavernTime and location do not change.
  2. For September we are doing a cruise on an 18th century sailing ship. Actually it's a replica but it looks good. This is not a professional cruise ship. No deck chairs, shuffleboard, etc. It's like going back 200 years. It is still being restored but is seaworthy. The captain/owner is doing this as a favour. Therefore, there are some conditions. Each person shall:1. Sign a waiver holding the captain, crew and owners harmless.2. Supply their own life jacket or PFD.3. Make a contribution of $20 to the restoration project.Leaving Portsmouth Harbour, Kingston, Ontario at 1pm on Saturday September 1, 2012. Please try to be early. Say 30 minutes.Arrive back in port approximately 5pm. Depends on the wind and weather. Just like in the ol' days.Dinner at the Portsmouth Tavern across the street. For safety reasons, the captain reserves the right to limit the number of people. At the moment that number is twelve (12).Signup early to reserve your place.

  9. Of course I'll be there. Unfortunately, Beth can't make it.I have a used oil pan and sucker pump for sale. Make me an offer.Richard
  10. I spent some time under my smart with the oil pan off. All I can think of is the flexible tube went in too far and got caught in a bearing journal or big end or got kinked at the bottom. You could try putting a coat hanger down it and maybe straighten a kink. Use your dipstick to measure how long to insert. Otherwise best to drop the pan than yank on it and leave something behind.Caveat! If you have a block heater that bolt could very well be rusted in. After twisting the head off, Mike and I spent several enjoyable hours playing with torches and releasing stuff to get it out. Be prepared for that.I now have a spare oil pan for a 450 if anyone is interested in doing their own mod. It looks easy enough. The devil is that one rusty bolt.Richard
  11. Richard and Beth will be there. Planning a road trip in May. Stock up on diapers

  13. The Perth road is a hoot to drive. Warnings to slow down for some turns were completely ignored by the smarty's. Warnings of 50, 60, 70kph for turns. I'm guessing we took 'em at 90. All of them. Great day! Total of 12 cars left Kingston and we met up with 2 more in Westport. Look forward to more events.Richard (Dr Byte)
