  1. Sadly, I had to say goodbye to my 2009 Passion today. I am donating the auction proceeds to : www.beaglepaws.com My beagle Herbie was my sidekick on many fun adventures in the Smartie. Thank you all for answering my questions over the last 5 years.
  2. Last night someone took a box cutter to my beloved 451. Both door panels are destroyed. Does anyone have any suggestions about finding inexpensive replacement? Black 2009 Passion Coupe
  3. Hello,Although I've been a Club Smart Member since 2011, I've just moved from Ottawa to Calgary, and hope to attend Alberta events in the near future. Calgary has been my home previously, but I am having a great time exploring the K-country and National Parks in my 2009 Passion Coupe:) Driving from Ottawa to Calgary in April was an amazing road trip.Best scenery: The Sault Ste. Marie to Thunder Bay area! Cheers,Smart Fan/Laura
  4. Every service has always taken longer than expected here at Star Motors in Ottawa. Now that I know this, I don't plan on having the car back on time. I use another vehicle, or squeeze a loaner out of them. They are very good about providing a loaner if they are behind schedule. Possibly because I calmly and politely do this: If they tell me a repair will be 90 minutes, and they aren't done in 3 hours, I go to an empty desk in the showroom and pretend I am using the phone to call the other MB dealer in town. Or and Indie repair shop. I remain calm and polite. A loaner car magically appears! Every Time!If you need to "motivate" them to include a repair on warranty, start taking photos of the problem area, and explain that this problem is a known bug, and your blog followers have had the repair done on warranty. For some silly reason, they find the idea of a blogger complaining really intimidating. Totally dumb, but it works like a charm. PS. I don't really have a blog, followers, or inside knowledge. I just enjoy polite performance art a little too much.
  5. My 2010 had rusty water leaking off it as I drove it off the lot brand new. The tailgate/rear window was defective, and the entire unit was replaced on warranty. The technician was hemming and hawing when I brought it back to MB. I started taking photographs of it and he suddenly "found a way to have it replaced on Warranty". So, it is obviously a known flaw, and you deserve to have it replaced. I made them clean the hatch where rusty goo had splotched the interior, too. Hope this helps.

  7. Love the hat and beard! Yesterday, I brought a 6 foot Christmas tree home in my Coupe!
  8. I loaded my 2009 Passion with Camping Gear and headed off to Maine! Beautiful scenery, car performed well, and I was able to get a ton of gear in! The car turned a lot of heads in the Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. With my 2 person tent, my campsite was "minature" by US standards. People were coming around to have a look and comment. I think they were expecting to be greeted by a gnome or hobbit:)
  9. www.addaspare.comAt $750 it is a bit pricey, but it does look nice--as these things go.
  10. Darn! I was hoping to pick up some Boze or Somy Audio Components:) It would be fun to mess with their minds by starting to haggle aggressively for their glossy promo materials
  11. Interior reminded me of the spaceship in 2001: A Space Odyssey:) I expected "Hal" to do a voice over for it! But I like the idea--anything small and with a high "WTF????" factor appeals to me. I'll cross-post this link to a Tab-like product http://www.lovebugrv.com/
  12. I am interested in this trailer: http://www.lovebugrv.com/ They seem to just be available in Alberta, but it looks like a nice way to hit the road:)
  13. Hi All,Here is one of my photos from the Mystery Run
  14. I'm driving from Ottawa to Vermont tomorrow. It would save a lot of time and bouncing from one exit to another if someone could tell me what brands of Gasoline come in Hi-Octane. Rumour has it that Chevron has a 95 grade. Are there Chevron stations in Vermont? What other stations are a reliable source of H.O fuel. My car will run on 91, but I can practically feel it dying a slow death as it pings and coughs its way down the highway. Thanks for your adviceLaura
  15. First of all, to answer your question, I accidentally put 89 in my 09 Passion Coupe. It ran, but it really sputtered and coughed. I could feel a loss of power. As soon as I realized what had happened (Full serve station attendant + language barrier), I added 94, but it took another full fill to get it running smoothly. My question is an extension of this one: I'm driving from Ottawa to Vermont tomorrow. It would save a lot of time and bouncing from one exit to another if someone could tell me what brands of Gasoline come in Hi-Octane. From the above post, I can see that Chevron has a 95 grade. Are there Chevron stations in Vermont? What other stations are a reliable source of H.O fuel. My car will run on 91, but I can practically feel it dying a slow death as it pings and coughs it's way down the highway.
