Hi Guys Not sure I've come upon the right forum but here goes, I am in the Channel Islands, Jersey to be exact (thats the united kingdom not the USA) I have a Smart 650Cabrio 2002 and the roof is twisted and the motor gears shot, the repair will cost upwards of $1,000 US so i purchased a complete car with a good roof but with the front written off for $400US and intend to rob the roof and use it on my everyday car....I cannot get the roof off the donor car as the rear fitting is nothing like any of the ones on any of the forums Ive seen on line. Does anyone know how this roof come off the rear roof fitting (as I wish to use it I don't want to damage it in the removal process. Many Thanks in anticipation Micky T
  2. I have a 2009 Passion Cabrio and I've been getting a rattling sound from somewhere around the left side of the steering wheel, inside the dash I think. It's not like a loose screw that rattles a little in its socket, but a loud intermittent buzzing sound that happens at any speed (but more so at the higher speeds). I checked to see if it was a window rattling, or something to do with the convertible top, or even something in the door pockets, but nothing checks out. It sounds like it's inside the dash panel on the left of the steering wheel. Does anyone know what this could be, and if it's serious? I'd appreciate any input you can come up with.   3. Thank you all so much for your help in that previous one! I’m still finding some new things out about how the car was treated by its previous owners and I hope to get her to 100% soon. The transmission in this cab is now shifting like the coupe (also was a rescue) which is good. Now that the weather is no longer miserable, I swapped the daily 451 for the 450 cab again. So, some minor issue with the roof is that it seems to struggle fully closing through the first stage. The tracks are extremely dry, so I’m going to lube those (the proper way). But first I want to trash the current side rails. They’re in bad shape with torn seals and multiplying rust. The bigger issue is that I cannot get the second stage to drop. The roof makes it all the way back to the second stage, but it just won’t drop. I can hear the motor attempt to do it, but no movement. I’m not familiar with the cabrio mechanisms. Is there a lock or something that keeps the second stage from dropping? If I locate the crank and where to stick it, should I be able to manually work it down? I’ve read a couple threads on here where somehow that ended being the solution...lube then cycling the roof a few times (with manual cranking to assist) to spread it around.
  4. Hi all, Thought I'd start this thread since most of the rear window threads I've found are about shops in GTA or vancouver. So I've been driving with a big hole in my rear window for almost a year now. I just couldn't bring myself to pay the 1000$ to repair it, which is the price I got from everyone I called. Until the other day, when I was stuck in traffic, a guy comes up to my window and gives me his card and tells me to call him tomorrow to fix my window. Quotes me 350$ to replace it. Best price I've gotten locally so far. Now I haven't repaired it yet, since I have to leave my car there for the day, so I can't comment on the quality. But I did visit the shop and it seemed like good work was being done there. I hope this helps out some people in the montreal area cause I know I had a time finding someone.
