Thanks Steve!

I see my subtle plea worked! :D

But can you lighten the first image? It's too dark. ;)

Hmmm... Intesting. Now how about it in "normal". ;)

You said to lighten it!

Your idea of lightening would be like switch to CLEAR panels from your lite white! ;)

Hey! That would be cool!

Lol.. but seriously. In my Corel PhotoPaint program... I couldn't find "lighten"... I found "turn to pencil marks" hehe.

It's labeled "Contrast" and "Brightness". There might even be an "Auto Colour" type thing.

I really liked the pencil drawing! Thanks!

I want to see if the quality is still there to blow that pic up and frame it!

No :) The quality is not there.... its only 72dpi for the web... far too low to print, nevermind blow up and print!

But if I had the original picture, uncompressed... I could apply the same "effect" to it and send it back to you.

Added all of Spinners.

If there are any that people don't like, let us know the filename and we can discuss it.

I'm putting in almost all that are submitted. I only leave it out if it has a formating error or if I really don't like it, or it's really close to one that's already there.

Other peoples opinions is very helpful. :help:

Also! If I've missed someones entry please let me know. It was really confusing with the poor filenames but I'm hoping thats better now. :lookaround:

Yup. 423x123. The pictures where the focus of attention is about one-third the size of the original photo and can be framed approximately in a 3:1 aspect ratio work best.

Depending on what you have, you may want to crop the image, but as soon as you do that, you have a lot less canvas to work with.

Here are the steps I used on most of my photos, relating to GIMP (Photoshop-like):

[*]Resize horizontal dimension to 423, preserving aspect ratio (this scales the image)

[*]Change canvas on the vertical dimension to 123, breaking the aspect ratio, and position the frame (this is a non-destructive crop)

[*]Flatten the layers (what-you-see-is-what-you-get)

[*]Save As a .jpg at 75% quality, deselecting the "progressive" option

It looks like we need them to be 423x123 in pixels?

It "looks" fine Gent.

A couple of minor issues that I will take care of.

1. It's HUGE! 54k is way too big. Thankfully I can fix it.

2. You had the file name wrong so I changed it to "Gent_ShinnyBlack1.jpg"

THANKS!

Something to keep in the back of your minds...

We can also do HOLIDAY directories! Where themed images can be grouped and those are used instead of the regular directory.

The Big holidays I can think of are, Halloween, Christmas and Valentines Day.

Just thoughts for the mill.

Hey, that's neat! Holiday celebration always ends up offending someone, but hopefully we can avoid that!

Thanksgiving and Canada Day seem to be appropriate too, no? (get Canada Day in at least once before get too multinational :) )

great idea Dean!

Don't encourage him, Steve -- you should see what he can do!

Seriously though, the themes are very cool and despite denominations etc., I think we're all a pretty accepting bunch.

Definitely focus on the truly Canadian holidays! And then some seasonal joy.
