The Third smart ForTwo Show and Shine!

Hey gang,

In conjunction with the professional driving event being held on August 2nd in Pitt Meadows, we will be having the third Club smart Car Show and Shine!

This will be held in the adjacent parking lot to the track activities so that those of you that are keener on keeping your tire tread can watch those of us more excited by lateral-g forces. :D

This one will be a potluck affair, so in addition to siging up, I'd like our members to indicate what they can bring to add to the event. Since I'll be busy bombing around on the track, we also need some volunteers to help organize everyone.

For your reference :

The First CsC Car Show

The Second CsC Car Show

If you want to have professional instruction to help you learn the limits of your driving and your car in a controlled environment , we still have two spots left!

Yeah for GENT. BTW. I had received a bulk mail from this site last night about some kind of election. Can we do the same bulk email to generate attention for the events?? I know we've talked about this before. Last night was the first time I can remember of getting a bulk mail from this site though. So some body knows how to do it.

Yeah, but I think they are only willing to do it for critical CsC issues - like elections. They don't want to annoy members with too many emails. I suspect that the site will only be sending out 1 per annum. :sad01_anim:

Thankfully they don't send out a lot of bulk emails. I get enough of that as is. Sorry. I'm too far away for the event. ;)

Heck, we've had Cora up from Arizona in the past. And B Tisshaw is coming from Montreal. You've got no excuse. ;)

What if it is a national event? MBCA have national events every year. This is THE original Smart Car Club representing North America. It deserve to be recognize as THE national club for Smart.

I agree. Perhaps the next BOD will implement something for National / North American CsC approved events.

Hi Gent,I read about the show and shine being potluck. What kinds of things are we talking about bringing? Ideas would be helpful. Also, what kind of volunteer workers are needed? After having read so many posts from so many people, many that are going to be racing, it would be fun to be part of it.Mimota :D

Hi Mimota,Well, why don't we start a list (that way nobody brings the same things)?Volunteer wise - All I need is a goto person that can arrive on site and make sure everyone parks in a sensible fashion. People just seem to like having a name to look for when they get there. :DIf someone was planning on bringing, say Pop and plastic cups, they would put their name down with that beside their name. Then the next person, et cetera...

The problem with blasting out emails is that not everyone wants to hear about an event (at all, or from certain locations, etc). No forum software have good enough opt-in systems to differentiate between "really important" and "kinda important", etc. This is why I tried organizing the regional threads a certain way but that ended up being a disaster. I really hope the next BOD can have a united vision so these things can have better attendance.I'm not sure if I can make it or not, but I'll donate some swag either way if it helps get people out.I'd really like to partake in the driving, but I just can't commit to August at this point. If I can come, I'll certainly volunteer and bring food. That's not really much help without a solid yes though, I know :( - StevenPS. No promises, but I've posted to the BOD to see if collectively there's anything we can decide on to help you promote the event.

So the show is for participants in the driving event, plus others who are not driving on track? Sounds good to me!

Okay - we are working on how to get a bang going for you - and I am always willing to get some skin into the game - so Free hot dogs and burgers - I can pop for that and the buns - just means Gerri will have to wait for her Euro tail lights a month longer  That leaves it open for someone to bring the ketchup etc. or we just cruise down that aisle at Costco while we are getting the rest.

We have a portable BBQ and a folding table - is there anything at the facility there for grilling? - or do we have to cook on Bil's new exhaust system (does the cat he is working on come with grill attachment?)

Cheers,

Cameron

A few of us on the board decided to experiment with event promotion methods. We'll see what kind of a reaction it gets, but the heading for this topic should now draw a bit more attention :)I'll pitch in for the food as well. We can organize the logistics of that as it gets closer and we know how many are coming.Hope this 3rd annual can be as big or bigger than the last two!! - Stevenps. We didn't put it to a full board vote, so if there's dissension in there we may have to reverse this, but I doubt it :) It normally Cameron and I that are at odds, and we seem to agree on this, along with Awesys, so I'm hopeful its smooth sailing when the rest see it. Hope it helps!pps. Gent, I appended ", BC" onto the subtitle.ppps. Whoops! Just noticed if you edit your post at all, the title gets screwed up! Careful.

We can help, mark us down for paper plates, plastic cups, napkins, & plastic utensils for all.

Then we will help in any other area as this gets off the ground. :thumbsup_anim:

Wow gang, I'm touched! This is cool, the new title looks great!Cameron, they can supply anything we need - but there is always a cost. I'm trying to get them to agree to promo a tent for us so that there is a place to huddle if it rains.

I just picked up an 8 GB Ipod...better get busy filling it with road tunes!

I can bring my dads Weber Q to add grill space for the event.

Can you feel the momentum building? I think this is going to be big.

: :D :Only 50 more sleeps 'till the big day!
