Burlington cruise nights return...

25 posts in this topic

Wed, May 13th, Mapleview Mall, Burlington. Its the return of the weekly (weather permitting) wed. night cruise nights. Come support a good cause, meet like-minded individuals, and catch up with old CSC friends. I'm sure the usual suspects will be there (a half dozen or so "regulars"), so if youre new to csc, or smart, and are close to the area, come on down and say hello. Just a few weeks to go !!

I think sooooo...Also, I have three 20litre diesel jerry cans for sale, don't need all of them now 'cause there's no where to go for bio-diesel! I got these from Diesel Dave for $5 each. If anyone wants to get one at the Mapleview cruise for $5, let me know ahead of time.

It was indeed 18deg & sunny, would've been sunnier if Steve's (and others') sunny faces had been there! Anyway we met diesel dave and had a look at his latest ride...next week anyone?

If the weather's decent, I'll be there. You can have a look at the neat job they did installing the hand controls.

i'm still having back issues, and couldnt do the cleaning job i wanted to on my wee car, so i'll aim for next week also, perhaps (weather permitting) we can aim for a big turnout and timmys afterwards?

I spent a disappointing couple of hours there last night. I've decided not to attend any more performance car shows. There was virtually NO interest shown in my smart, aside from a few smirks by passersby. I observed that most other small cars were similarly ignored. Pat and Paula (SilverBlue) came by, but their car was not in the show because it wasn't deemed presentable. Mine had been washed by M-B Oakville after a recent service, and looked pretty good. Another couple indicated that they owned a 2006 smart and were very pleased with it, but they were there showing their Corvair.

Gary, I hear your frustration. I went to the shows to see the other smart owners and the interest of others was more of a bonus. However it looks like interest is now waning by the owners and public. No biggie! We'll just have to organize something ourselves.Maybe you should consider meeting Cait and the smarties at Grand Bend on the 7th of July :D

Glen and Gary (glen ross?) You guys are right. there is virtually no interest in the car at these shows. perhaps up until the last couple of years, it was o.k. because it was still fairly new, but after 4yrs, everyone with any interest in them knows what they need to by now. The people at these cruise nights are walking around wearing nascar jackets and stuff, they want to see 57 chevys and cars with big fins and monstrous engines peeking out of the hood, and if you have flames painted on the side, you're golden. its not really about quirky small runarounds.however, its never been about any of that stuff for me, and i still go. it supports the charity when you buy some 50/50 tix (prizes upwards of $750 have been won on a good turnout night), and its an opportunity to meet up with other smart car owners, thats worth it in of itself. come if you have an interest in older cars, or come to meet fellow smarts and support a good cause, never mind what the people with mullets and nascar jackets think.we still have some good chat with fellow owners, and it breaks up the week nicely, giving us something to do on a wed. night in the summer, and on a good turnout night weve even gone to east side marios in the mall for dinner together. hope to see you all there one night for a get-together at least. steve.
