2004-2007 smart 450 worn suspension

just wanted to thank you for this post as the rubber dampers have worn out in my rear suspension and you can only get them as part of a package, so I figured I'd upgrade!

Maybe, for an idiot like myself, you would like to comment on the differences between these suspension packages. I do not have suspension tuning equipment, and I will be installing them myself. Will I see any benefit to the extra coin spend on the bilstein over the brabus, or will it just take me longer to install? I believe this is still 'self promotion' for you.

One will get more control for the price you paid. More refine engineering and product. You can compare increment from stock, replace with sport springs, Brabus sport package, Bilstein coil over. The Bilstein does take marginally more time to install. But if you want to maximize its performance; you should have it corner balance. Which could double the time on install.

'Corner balance' Maybe I am getting retarded.. oh just found it..so 1500lbs car.. 400lbs scales... hum...Does flying tiger have special 10% off the already reduced price of the bilstein's for club smart car members?Or maybe it was free shipping I was thinking? :P (Yeah, I am a cheap SOB)

HiI had a broken front coil spring (probably from potholes in London) and found that the car was bobbling over bums.I also had worn out ABS rings at that time, I ordered the rings from Harald but he did not have shocks in stock. I emailed Eddy who responded promptly with advice on which one to buy. I was initially interested in the Bilstein but he told me it will need more time to put them on and needs adjustment everytime if I want to change height.I decided to get the Brabus. His price was even better than the OEM from Mercedes London. My friend Mike (SmarTech) installed them for me.I had better handling, (i.e. cornering, decrease understeer).Smartech said "that was the only modification he likes to have in his Smart". I suggested that he should get the Bilstein.Unfortunately, I had replaced my rear tires shortly before this, otherwise I will up grade to better rims and tires.Danny

Wider rims and tires will make just as much different for improving the handling for any fortwo. Can you imagine having both. Plus a remap. There would be a lot of fun driving experience.
