Iceland is world renowned for being home to some of the most beautiful sites and natural wonders attracting hundreds of thousands of visits every year. Most tourists come in the summer months with fewer thinking about exploring the country in the depths of winter when the spectacular waterfalls, glaciers or geyser take on a whole new appearance. However, travelling in the winter season is not as foolish as some might think it is.

The Icelandic winter the roads do get extremely icy and the snow can be tricky, but when equipped with the right gear, the most remote places in Iceland can still be accessed in comfort. In addition to this, due to the current exchange rate the already low prices for renting a car outside the main season are even more affordable, so hiring a car in Iceland has never been simpler.

Iceland Car Rental offers a wide range of high-performance rental cars for travellers wishing to explore the astonishing volcanic landscape that Iceland has to offer. Their selection includes top makes such as Volvo, Jeep, Suzuki and Ford; all available with automatic transmission and considerable engine power, which is needed in the remote areas of Iceland.

As well as that the Icelandic rent-a-car company offers the ultimate solution to eco-friendly driving with their Smart cars. Small but fast, Smart cars have low consumption and CO2 emissions and even enjoy free parking in Reykjavik.

All their cars are equipped with a range of useful extras often needed in rural Iceland, such as

Garmin Navigation, roof boxes, children seats and other accessories.

After booking, Iceland Car Rental will either pickup you up from Keflavik International Airport or delivery at any Reykjavik hotel, any address in Greater Reykjavik area or BSI, the main bus terminal in downtown Reykjavik.

Hi GlenI was in Iceland the end of June this year. I did not see too many Smarts. There are lots of SUV's due to the Terrain. I was in a vehicle looks like an army truck that can travel across rivers when I did the excursion to Thor's Woods. They do have GPS included with their rentals. But renting cars is expensive from what I was told.Iain, you should go to Iceland now as the currency devaluation. There areno Rollercoasters but amazing scenery. Otherwise it will be expensive again in the next few years.Icelandic Air aloows a stop over in Iceland if you fly to European destination. I took advantage of this when I did a CME Baltic Cruise which I did not enjoy as we had bad weather (rain and strong wind ) in Copenhagen and Berlin. Danny

About CA$100 a day isn't too bad by Euro standards (but outrageous compared to paying US$17 a day all over the States for a compact -- with unlimited mileage -- and then getting a free upgrade to a midsize or SUV).
