Dustless Brake Pads

Hi All Does anyone knw of any good brake pads that leave a MINIMAL amout of brake dust?My front rims get covered very quickly and I am hoping to find some that will keep the rims a bit cleaner.Thanks

EBC would be one choice. I just bought a set of green pads and performance rotors out of the UK for about $240 CDN.

I have used stock, EBC Greenstuff and EBC Redstuff. The Redstuff are the best so far, but nothing will eliminate it completely. Get used to cleaning your wheels frequently.

EBC with rotors is a waste of time IMO, you still have dust.Wax your wheels and keep 'em clean. Maybe try braking less as well.

Try braking less..............OK..... thats great advice......I'll mention it to the cops after I run red lights and stop signs......but officer, it keeps the brake dust down....................a club smart car member suggested it.....what,,,I still get a ticket....but officer didn't you hear my reason?????

If you want to minimize the dust, the Redstuff make a significant difference. Also, keeping the brakes serviced properly makes a big difference. If one of the pads starts to drag due to being seized in the carrier, the amount of dust made is significantly more, you can usually tell this is happening because one side of the car will always start to seize up before the other side of the car. Depends which side of the car sees more moisture while parked (closer to grass, downspouts from house etc etc)

Trade off- less dust, but wears out rotors????

I use Porterfield pads on my Benz and Dodge. Super dustless and the rotors on my Dodge did last less than OEM perhaps but it was still over 100,000 kilometers. I don't know if they are available for any smart models though.

Yeah, brake less, anticipate lights, coast where neccessary in gear... but be safe most of all!

Harald of parts for Smarts is in Kitchener too, I believe. I bought some Green stuff from him last year and put them on my daughter's cab at about 90k. I've got another set sitting around the garage for my wife's but at 104k, she's still on the originals. My daughter has a Pulse so the spokes are fairly well spaced so that may help keep the dust blown off.

Saw some groovy smart fortwo rotors someplace online today that were 9.7mm - thicker (and longer-lasting?) than others.

my wife's but at 104k, she's still on the originals.

Have you checked the right inside pad if it has de-laminated already?
