First Long Road Trip/ Question about noise

5 posts in this topic

Hey folks, So I just got back from taking Maxwell on his first long haul. 1300 kms round trip from Rockland, ON to Owen Sound, ON and I did it for $54 in gas. While there, and on the trip back though I can hear a noise which seems to be coming from the front driver's side. I'm wondering if it's something with the tire because it seems to be a steady noise in pace with the car. Any ideas?

My guess: Front suspension is toed out; the inner part of the front tires are cupped.

I had a problem like that last summer, but not so drastic as cupped treads-- it was a piece of duct tape that had stuck to my tire. Very disconcerting up until discovering the cause... ;^)

If you start hearing it around 50-60 kph, my guess is that it may be a wheel bearing. That's what happened to me.

It almost sounds like a ratlle, but the wheel bearing sounds like it makes sense.
