usefullness of the top spoiler

7 posts in this topic

Dear Smart Friends,I am wondering what could be the useful side of the top spoiler. I can see it looks cool, but are there any other benefits rather than that?Best,Michaello

The top spoiler (presuming you meant the one over the back window) also serves to keep ice and snow off the rear wiper blade and part of the rear window. This means that no added stress on the wiper motor when you turn it on after a freezing rain. Whether or not this was the original intent of the design, it does, none-the-less, do this quite well.

The rear piece adds to the aerodynamics of the car - by placing the spoiler the airflow is fooled into thinking the car is longer and reduces turbulence. Unfortunately there is still a large vaccum area behind the car and soot, road grime and spray tend to get drawn to the back end.On a practical note the spoiler also covers the hinges and door mechanism as well as providing room to mount the rear wiper motor out of sight.Cheers,Cameron

I really like the look of them, and I've always wanted one except they're WAY to expensive for a little sliver of plastic. And then you still have to paint it.
