I wonder why there's a sudden jump in sales for July, August and September? Did they sell a fleet of them to the car2go people?

I think so as I've seen a whole bunch of new 2013 smart cars added to the Vancouver car2go fleet. I just recently heard that Toyota will discontinue sales of their IQ in Europe next year due to lack of demand. I wonder if SCION IQ will also be dropped as sales have been very very low.

I think it will. And I can't say I would be sad to see it go, mainly because it was such a blatant attack on smart's small market niche. A failed one, mind you.

It's not bad at all. The best year for smart in Canada was 2005, when 4000 were sold. Since then, the total annual sales have varied between 2000 and 3000. So this is an OK year. More than 60 of the smarts sold this month were of the electric variety.

I am surprised by the DEC numbers overall. My dealer had crazy lease or purchase deals available on inventory units in DEC and had moved some 15 vehicles already that month when I took delivery of mine. Normally they only sell 5-8 per month.

Sounds good.Just got back from 6 weeks in Dubai. Smart started up on 1st turn on the key. Anybody have a clear idea when the new model will be in Canada?Terry
