· #1 Posted December 19, 2013 (edited) · Report post I have a problem with my smart, i thing the Actoator is the problem... Car won't move, but i can ear something under the car. I remove the actuator, evrerything look good, but when i want to reinstall it, impossible ! The "arm" seems to be extented at the max. I can not align the hole for the screw.. It is possible to "press in" the arm ? ANd I have this Code : P0702 Transmission Control System Electrical Mine looks longer ?? · #5 Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) · Report post Did you turn on the car with the actuator removed? If so you may have a big problem. This is critical! There is a strong spring within the actuator, meant to balance the force of the clutch that the actuator works against. If the actuator is activated when removed it does not have the strength to retract, if I understand the problem correctly. Sorry, turbomar, you must have missed that bit, but that is very bad advice.Wait for some more info from someone who may know more details.If you cycle the power while pressing the actuator hard it may retract, not sure.Anyone know for sure?Edit: Do you have the fork punch-through problem? I think though, that if you cycle the power (assistant needed) while pressing hard it may retract.It is always extended with the power on until it is in gear and you press the throttle. I went through the same thing and thought I bought a faulty unit. Pushed it back in by hand and it's been working perfectly for almost 2 months now. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

· #17 Posted December 20, 2013 (edited) · Report post It doesn't lock. Without power to the motor it will just stay in. Just push it in. Bolt it back on the car. Then plug it in. I then removed the motor and rotates the stator by hand to replace the actuator in the right place and Bingo! Thanks Dom ! · #19 Posted May 4, 2014 · Report post I Just pushed the actuator rod back into the actuator box. Bolted it back in the car and plugged it back in. If it is functioning properly and shifts smooth and quiet as I loaded the actuator up with lube and greased the rod before reinstalling it. · #22 Posted December 11, 2019 · Report post So, I made a mahoosive mistake today by unbolting the clutch actuator whilst it was in the fully extended position. I just put it in a vise and tried pushing the rod back in, and it goes back ok, but as soon as I loosen the vise, the rod just springs back out. Anything im doing wrong??
