I so need help with fault codes

I have just brought my first Smart car, a 2005 black Forfour that alas will not start! Yes I brought it over the internet without looking at it and I was ripped off. So I have a non working car at the side of the road, 8 hours away! I am thus throwing myself on the mercy/expertise of the forum! I have contacted a local mechanic to take a look and he has given me the fault codes, but wants $5500 to replace the gearbox and ECU. I’m hoping I don’t need to do this but the Smart car is VERY rare in New Zealand so it is hard to get any informed advice. There is and ‘O’ on the dash and the fault codes are
P0110 – P0105 – P1828 – P0222 – P0123 – U1431 & C1396

Please help me. I don’t want to have to scrap my baby before I even get to drive it! Any help at all will be VERY appreciated. I just want it to start!

Most of the members here are from Canada and sadly we never got the smart forfour's!

Now looking at these codes Id say take a close look at your harness and see for any chafing or damage.
