Join local smart, e-bike and electric car owners for the 4th Annual Community Show and Shine at Whole Foods Market.

We will be meeting at Whole Foods Market Oakville in front of the store for a BBQ (cost $10 plus HST per person).

BBQ proceeds be donated to the Oakville United Way.

Mercedes Benz Oakville will be on site to showcase the 2015 SMART fortwo Electric Drive Car.

Sun Country Highway will be onsite to talk about charging stations and EV infrastructure. As a progressive, Canadian owned company, they are leading the electric vehicle movement across Canada by raising awareness and promoting the adoption of zero emission transportation.

This event will be very educational and a lot of fun. Everyone is welcome!! Please bring your friends and family.

Where: Whole Foods Market Oakville

When: Monday July 27th from 5 - 7 PM

This event is being organized by EV Life Magazine, the Golden Horseshoe Electric Vehicle Association and E.C.O. Partners with help and support from our friends at Whole Foods Market Oakville.600_438864257.jpeg

Love to see you there. We will have lots of room car cars this year as we can use the front of the store and part of the west parking lot.

If you don't mind blending the old with the new, I can bring one of my diesels.

This was a great event when we attended previously with our 05 diesel smart.

We are planning to attend with our 14 smart ED. One question: will there be an opportunity to charge? Don't recall seeing charging infrastructure. This location is at the edge of our range.

Not too far from there is Tim Hortons' head office, and they have a nice Tim's store there, and a free ChargePoint station.

All smart cars welcome!!! There are no chargers at Whole Foods, but there are chargers at the GO station parking lot across Trafalgar Road, and at Tim's head office location on Wyecroft Road. Also, we have a charger at our house in Bronte that can be used after the event if needed.

Would not be the event it has become without you :-)

Another successful day at the Whole Foods Market.

The total were 4 EV smarts, 2 diesels (Smart65's & mine) and a gasser from New York State.

We were joined by one Chevy volt, one Nissan, one very techy-looking 3-wheeled pedal/electric vehicle, one or two Ford Fusion Hybrids, one Zero "S" Motorcycle and 7 (yes 7 .. count them) Tesla's. The Tesla contingent consisted of 5 four-door sedans and 2 convertibles. (I think that covers everyone). When asked, the Zero owner was extremely pleased with his machine. His only complaint was that "green" licence plates were not available for motorcycles, so he couldn't take advantage of the HOV lanes.

Temperatures were in the low 30's (close to 90F) without the 'humidex'. With high humidity and light winds a lot of people were actively looking for shade but it was a good event with all proceeds from the BBQ going to the Oakville United Way.

I've test driven a zero. Nice to ride and quite fast. You can also remove the governor on them, and they turn into the most incredibly fast bike you have ever been on.
