Many electric cars will perish in hurricane's flooding

4 posts in this topic

Watching the TV coverage of the scramble to evacuate south Florida, reminded me how impractical an all-electric vehicle can be. When mobility is required under emergency conditions like avoiding a fire, as at Fort McMurray, or a hurricane, short range and long recharge times are not compatible with the needs of evacuees. All-electric cars in south Florida are likely to be abandoned and inundated by the storm surge..

Like the 500,000 - 1M ICE vehicles that will be written off from Harvey?

Or the burning car in Florida?

Or the abandoned, broken down or disabled vehicles on the Florida turnpike?

How about being a little more concerned about the massive impacts of climate change on the millions of people who are having their lives ruined?

I don't think the owners would be stupid enough to try and drive hundreds of miles in their electrics.  So they'll be in garages and may be destroyed along with the other vehicles left there.  Or not.  What a strange thread.

Or how about the poor and the homeless who don't have cars, or even enough money to get a bus or plane ticket out of harm's way, or even enough funds to stock up on emergency supplies to shelter in place?
