I wonder if any smart dealers in Canada even have 453 leftovers... I still never have driven one. :)

I tested one in 2014 or thereabouts and the gearbox was dire in stop and go, worse in some respects than the 450, if you can believe it.  After driving it I was certain that I'd never own one.  The manual _may_ be better.....

Is that year-to-date i.e. the total for the first quarter of 2018, or March 2018 only?

Thanks Nigel, that's right, 67 for the year to date in Canada (Q1).

Ha...  I guess I should have scrolled up to see your earlier posts, then it would have been obvious.  My bad.

Maybe the EQ rebranding and folding of the Smart brand will help revitalize it.   When they get around to it...

I am surprised that the smallness factor is seemingly going away. Regardless of the branding, a small EV for city use is very appropriate. I guess it's to be decided if people can live with an 8 foot long car, or do they want an 11-12 footer with the back row seats that rarely get used.

I'll have to look up what smart production numbers are out of the factory - or can someone enlighten me. Just curious.

This kind of new:

Is encouraging. So smart will likely fade, and EQ will carry forward. Makes good sense to me.

One can only hope that EQ will end up being the car2go vehicle on offer in due course.

Smart really paved the way for a lot of things to come... was glad to be a part of it as a customer and enthusiast. (Well, still am, til June 15th, anyway! ;) )

correction: 35 of the smarts sold in March were electrics.  And all of the smarts sold in April were electrics.

So, they are trending nearly 400 electrics a year?

In a country they thought they'd be happy to sell 1000 diesels per year initially

Interesting

And, interestingly, I just configured a cabriolet at thesmart.ca - and here's how they referred to it! Note the use of 'EQ'.....
