Not cranking. Alternator turning.

3 posts in this topic

Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum, great work!

4 Month ago I bought a Smart MHD 2008. I'm now start thinking that choosing a MHD wasn't a great idea.

I have a starting issue and I don't get how the MHD system works. The engine doesn't crank but looking under the car, I can see the crankshaft pulley and accessory belt turning, so that would mean that the alternator is working. If I lookt at the bolt on the Crankshaft.. it doesn't turn.

The question is, is there a mechanism on the crankshaft pulley to engage or dissengage depending on what the alternator is trying to do.. Starting or Charging?

Thanks,

Hi Leo, the smart mhd was never sold in Canada, where this forum is based.  So it's unlikely that anyone here will have a clue about your problem.  Maybe this will require a concessionnaire smart.
