· #1 Posted September 13, 2018 (edited) · Report post What a gas! A smartcar passed me on the highway with what looked like a single wheel trailer at the back. As i tried to speed up to get a closer look this guy flew off like he had a six pack in it. Has anyone seen this or was i hallucinating? · #4 Posted September 19, 2018 · Report post I couldnt find any info on this site. Does anyone know where l can buy one for my smartcar? I saw something on a site for VW's and other cars but not Smartcars. Looks like it was originally made back in the 40's?
· #5 Posted September 20, 2018 · Report post You would have to get one custom-made. A niche item for a niche car is not economically feasible for production. These have been been discussed here before. Do a search, and the threads should come up.

· #18 Posted September 21, 2018 (edited) · Report post im sure someone may have made a safe one...but i havent seen one yet with tires/bearings/attachment points/swivel or suspension that i would trust at highway speeds most of them look like roof luggage racks with wheel barrow tires...attached to those flimsy little tow hook points designed for temporary straight horizontal pulling forces Edited September 21, 2018 by LooseLugNuts schpelling 1 person likes this
· #19 Posted September 21, 2018 · Report post Swivel wheel trailers are dangerous because they alter a car's handling. Center of gravity is moved towards the rear and will vary with load. End result is the car will oversteer so you can easily loose your tail on windy and slippery roads. 1 person likes this

· #21 Posted October 3, 2018 · Report post Found the details of how to make this trailer and lm going to have one made. Spoke to a few guys at a car hop and l couldnt believe how many positive comments were made. I was even surprised of the how many of these were made.. Most of the guys were commenting on how ideal it is for a small car with little to no rear storage space. I have to move a fridge to my mother in laws next month.Hopefully it will be finished by then.
· #22 Posted October 8, 2018 · Report post No way would I move something as big or as heavy as a fridge using a smart and a single-wheel “trailer”. · #24 Posted October 8, 2018 · Report post I transported a large fridge with rear hatch open and fridge sticking out. This fridge would not fit other cars but no problem for the Smart.
· #25 Posted October 8, 2018 · Report post I also regularly carry an 9 m ladder in my Smart car. Only local moves around the village. No problem when you own a Cabrio.
