Lambeth Harvestfest Parade, Saturday Aug 31/2019

Once again it’s coming up to that time of year when some of us die-hard, tried-and-true Smarties take part in the annual Harvestfest Parade in Lambeth, Ontario.  This year marks the 40th anniversary of Harvestfest, the unofficial beginning of the Fall season (oh no, say it ain’t so).  This year’s event will track thru town on its original course, now that all the road construction has wrapped up, so it will be longer than last year’s parade.  Also different this year will be the date.  It will be held a bit earlier, on Saturday, August 31st.  This is the Saturday of the Labour Day Weekend.  Some may find this date harder to attend, while others may actually find it easier.  Organizers had to change the date in order to use the Community Centre for Harvestfest activities as in years past, before the ice service goes in on Sept 01st.

As in years past, line-up begins at 9:00 with the parade starting at 10:00.  Once again the organizers stress NO PEANUTS and NO PEANUT CONTENT in any candy handed out to the crowd, plus they also stressed “handed out to the crowd” and not tossed, thrown or whipped at the crowd.  Damn, and I had a point system all worked out.  😇

 

Liz and Glenn are inviting everyone to a BBQ at there place in Lambeth after the parade.

They will have beef on a bun and a salad. BYOB and other goodies of your preference.

This is a fun event. 

 

In the past we have had great spectator support for the most part.  The kids absolutely love us!   The people running the parade have been kind enough to allow us to participate once again. 

 

We are bringing the freshly home made chocolate chip cookies to the BBQ.  Yummm.

I’ve got veggies (colli, broc & carrots) + dips, mini carrot muffins, 2-bite brownies and my BYO.... of course.

As usual, I’ll be at the pancake breakfast first thing, if anyone wants to join me.  

Starts at 7:30 (that’s ‘AM’ Glenn, you know, in the morning).

You missed a good day.  Great weather, well organized parade and a tasty BBQ at the end of it all.

 

Many thanks to Bill for initiating talks to, once again, have us included in the parade and to Liz and Glenn for hosting the BBQ.

 

All three power plants were in attendance … Diesel, gas and electric.
