Random oddball cars you've seen

199 posts in this topic

That's what this thread is about... I'll start.

Tonight, whike parking at a comedy club, I saw a very random, RHD 2001 Peugeot 406 with a Y-Reg British plate on the front and a Florida plate in the back. I tried taking a picture, but no luck.

Saw an old MB Delivery Van today (no not a sprinte) and some electric van thing on Saltspring Island today. Both looked like they had seen better days - the MB looked like it was still on the road.

I will have to dig through my Saudi pictures for one of the MB trucks they use there - way under powered for the mountain area we were in - no problem with mosquitoes if you were behind one going up hill.

Oh - and my Dad's '69 LTD - which he is getting rid of if anyone wants a classic 70's car.

Cheers,

Cameron

Was it one of those gorgeous Peugeot 406 Pininfarina coup?s?

Cameron, I've seen that M-B van on Saltspring too, it looks minty.

that it was... and the fact that it had a Florida plate on the back makes me confident that I'll see it agin.

They are one of the most elegant cars ever. In fact, they're the second-generation offspring of my 1966 404 Pininfarina Coup?, which has Kugelfischer fuel injection.....

Have to see if I can find a picture of my Dad's DKW - think he had a picture of it. Very cool car.

Maybe you can get us Canadians to invade - well sort of - if it is okay with the Swedes - they might not mind if we did - but only if the Swedish Bikini Team is our escort.

I love Scandinavian women.... that's another thing keeping me in Orlando. The Norway pavilion at Epcot. It's like going to Scandinavia, but without that whole Long Flight/Customs/Learning a new language/Exchange Rate/Cold Weather/Snow.

Viva Epcot!

There is an Isetta in Lethbridge - the guy shows it every year in a car show.

I saw an Innocenti Turbo in Fort MacLeod the other day. I remember there was a dealer in Edmonton in the late '80s when I was there - I would have loved to have had that car! It was a real rocket!

time for an update to this...

over the past week, I saw a Fiat 500 on the freeway here, a Delorean with the Back to the Future look, and a Right Hand Drive Honda Civic... and just this morning, a Scion xB (not odd here, but get this), wearing New Brunswick plates and no daytime running lights.... odd.

A DeLorean with a "back to the future look" ???? Could you actually SEE the Mr. Fusion?

I saw a white Scion xB in downtown Toronto last weekend. It was registered in Ontario. Don't know about the daytime lights. It was stopped briefly to pick up a tall guy.

Yes... yes I could.

I wish I could've seen if it had the Flux Capacitor.

It even had a real OUTATIME California plate on the front and a regular FL plate on the back

I can understand why it'd pick up a tall guy... the only thing I've been on with more headroom than that is an open top double decker bus

I am reluctant to admit I saw an xb in Victoria last weekend. I also saw my very first Honda Insight! They do exist! I am also waiting to spot the Easter Bunny but he may be more elusive!

That's funny. :D

I haven't seen any oddballs around in a while. I remember seeing a Volkswagen New Beetle on an expressway in Florida back in 1997, before they were launched.

The bass player in my band has a nice collection of unique cars. His daily driver is an Audi Quattro coup?, and he also has a Porsche 928 and a DeLorean!

Maybe not so much an oddball but I saw the new Toyota FJ Cruiser at the dealer today. Nice truck for the off road crowd...too bad there is no diesel option for the engine!

Saw an older Toyota four door with what looked like a twelve year old girl driving. It parked and sure enough, a tiny pre-teen girl got out of the driver's side. Then her mom got out of the right side which turned out to actually be the driver's side.

I asked the mom why they have a right-hand drive car and she said they imported it from Japan years ago because the four wheel drive wasn't made in left-hand drive models, only in Japanese domestic production.
