exhaust manifold removal

29 posts in this topic

well it been a few weeks. ( i have been under the weather for a bit ).

but yesterday i was able to finally remove the exhaust studs.  i used the weld on nut method that LooseLugNuts advised.

so now i can start sourcing new manifold bolts, gasket and everything else i need.

Buy stainless steel studs and nuts on eBay. You may source manifold gasket there too but you may as well reuse existing gasket which is what I did.

Probably too late, but I used a car battery and some 400amp cables, connected 1 side to the aluminium webbing on the motor, and pressed the other cable on the studs, waited for them to glow bright orange, then cool down, and I then simply spun them out with pliers, its basic electrical resistance, worked perfectly
