450 CDI Tickling sound when accelerating

7 posts in this topic

Hello everyone,

I have a 2002 CDI Cabrio Smart with 199000 Km, but recently I'm hearing some strange noise from my car.

When I Accelerate I hear some Tickling sound from behind, this noise won't be notice if I release acceleration pedal or when the car is changing gear.

What should I inspect? My mechanic said that it's nothing, but he haven't control what it could be.

I changed the last month my exhaust, but it was doing it even before.

Thanks

Something you also ought to check is engine oil pressure and hydraulic valve tappets.  There should be a noticable clatter from engine when idling if tappets are bad.

Check oil pressure using a pressure gauge.

Is there anywhere a guide on how to install a pressure gauge?

Thanks

Rear panel heat shield touching either exhaust or something else.

I'm thinking it has to do with the exhaust, because I can hear it from the right side.

What could I look for specifically?

possible reasons:
hydraulic valve lifter (wear)
rpm (top dead center) sensor (signal delay)
(later signal) : this is my last successful fix
