COVID.....finally.....augh!

7 posts in this topic

Well as the title says, our home has finally been infected with the dreaded COVID.......not me the wife.....!   Thankfully as I have a history of lung infections that nearly killed me twice 30 years ago.

So, who else here has had to go through the same issue...?

Funny as she has had 5 jabs and I'm up to 3 and that is it for me.  Nothing political just I'm done with it so to speak in that respect.

I will say I have disinfected the entire house just in case  and that means everything she could have touched in the past 3 days.  One thing is the house hasn't smelled so clean(bleach that is) in years...lol.  She is also quarantined to the bedroom with ensuit bathroom.....meals delivered along with anything she needs.....but no strolling around the rest of the house until a few negative test results.....and a few days grace.
I doubt it's that serious at the moment and I'm not saying it will be nothing, but I'm also not taking any chances with my health just in case.
So who else has gone through it ....any suggestions, thoughts...?   That is WITHOUT getting POLITICAL....or it will get shut down.

Just curious......

my thoughts are that you should get ready ...youre probably just a day or two behind

for me it was one of the worst 2 weeks of my life....my elderly parents also got it but it barely affected them...same with my nieces it barely affected them at all

its been almost 2 months now and i still feel the remnants

Great, I was thinking the same thing, a day or two behind.
What did you do to make it better so to speak?  Medications, food, anything..?  Just wait it out?  What did it do to you? We have people on the street who's wife is still suffering from long covid and it has beaten her down a few pegs in her life span imho.   Mind you she is about 300 lbs so I'm sure that plays a huge part of it also.  Having a weakened system because of carrying that weight has to be an issue.  Still surprising to hear of her issues.

I went to England in Oct and was told it was rampant there, but when i get there nobody really cares, it's just another virus to deal with and once you get it, you get stronger  and repeat.  My cousin and his son get it regularly it seems....no real issues.  Also nobody wears masks or acts that much differently than before covid.
I will say I have been a bit relaxed lately myself. Just keeping distances from others...but no masking.   I also do not live in a large urban area.....but she did go to one last thursday....right downtown Toronto....
Just took a rapid test....nothing....tic tic  tic.....

Hang in there and if she or you gets into any shortness of breath, get to a hospital stat.

Both my kids have had it three times each and faten and I never caught it at all. Mid September faten got it then I got it two days later. Three days feeling crap and over it. Kids didn't get it this time round.

It sure is a weird one. I had been dreading getting it for two years being diabetic for 35 years, one kidney due to cancer in the other and stents in my two coronary arteries, the third atrophied to nothing years ago. One would think a prime candidate for a wooden box but in truth, I have had worse hangovers.

Well so far so good.....shouldn't have said that I know but so far I've tested neg twice......my issue is 30 years ago I contracted pluricy with pnumonia and broncitus......so bad my lungs filled up with fluid that I had to have my lungs vacuumed out......that meant me inhaling a cup of fluid to coat the air ways so the vacuum pipe didn't damage the walls and my vocal cords etc....that meant I had to drown myself and as I passed out they sucked all the mucus out and revived me.....the hardest thing I have had to do. But all I could get in air wise was a sip of air almost not enough to live on.....I have had this condition twice and the last time it nearly killed me....so now I am very careful about anything that can infect my lungs. I never want to have to drown myself again! From what I have learned about covid is it damages the inner walls of your lungs and your body sends in fluid to try and heal the damages ending up filling your lungs with fluid. Basically the same thing and maybe this is why people rarely get out of ICU once they get there....vacuuming your lungs out isn't for the weak I can tell you.  I was in my early 30's and normally very fit.....all my life I have had heavy lifting hard physical jobs which kept me fit.   This crap turned me into a wet rag fast!  So don't worry any signs it is happening again I'll be pushing sick folks out of my way trying to get to the vacuum....machine...  The faster you get the crap out the better chance you will make it imho.  When it gets this far along that is.   I now gargle with very strong hot salt water at the slightest sign of a cold or such. So far it's worked well. I really haven't been sick that often. Damaged yes but simply sick not much.

I also have a bottle of Tramadol....and a good selection of other narcotics for pain.....as I said I know about damage issues and how best to relieve them as best I can.
