SAM fuel pump trigger bypass

4 posts in this topic

Hi,  i seem to have intermittent LP fuel pump SAM output.

the SAM connector is not melted and i have opened the SAM and checked the common solder joints.

if I jump 12v to the red/black wire from the SAM,  the LP pump runs perfect,  if the SAM controls the pump it is intermittent.

would there be any issue with just bypassing the SAM's LP output and running it off a relay triggered from an ignition output off the SAM?

Hey buddy.....doesn't the pump signal run off a pressure sensor signal or is it constant?   Just a thought?    IF you run it just off a ign live that removes the pressure sensor no? What about jumping from the sensor in series somehow...????   Perhaps your issue is the sensor signal?

Send a pm to Glenn. I believe what you are proposing is what he has recommended in the past but I can’t find his post on this right now.

should be fine the cdi is a simple supply and return system on the low side ...just make sure whatever ignition source you use is also live during crank

and use a relay

and a fuse

just in case
