Sorry to hear this, I guess the first question is what exactly did they say happened? It seems a bit low for a motor to have seized. Was it electrical or mechanical? Perhaps a member out your way can help?
ok found other thread
This is fundamentally wrong.
As our cars age, certain topics become MORE in demand, and need.
Think of SAM issues and ECU issues.
I have a pretty major SAM issue at the moment.
Can I go to CSC and search for that ?
If there is any saving of ones mind on this, there is an alternative.
If one goes to do a WEB search with the terms 'clubsmartcar' and 'SAM' you can get all the CSC topics listed.
Thank goodness for somebody else to provide what we cannot give ourselves, from our own data.
first - tell us if you are at all capable of doing/creating simple electrical work yourself.
If so, then we can have a go at you fixing it ... save $$$$ and the life of the car
If that fails, you are at least not 'out' a lot of $$$$, and can return to the salvage route if not successful
If not, do you have someone who can/will for you and or a cheap independant, you trust, who can follow easy directions, from CSC forums ?
I dealt with the SAM-fuel pump issue years ago, and am currently dealing with another big SAM issue at the moment. Patiently, and with time, and a few basic tools.
Just a caveat:
If it is of concern to you, you can add a fuel cutoff inertia switch or there is always the more complicated external relay fix.
smart142, you really have me thinking here. if it is possible to just confirm that this will really fix my problem... Is there a way to test or identify if this repair is the right one? I would have to tow the car off the Mercedes lot (since I don't think they'll do this for me. Also, I have about $200 in maintence and other repairs to consider... but if $3400 of teh bill goes away... I would get to keep my car!
can ou send me a link to more information about this?
