From the article:
The countdown has started for the new fortwo cabrio, a particularly iconic variant of the new model series. The open-top two- seater will have its world premiere in September at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt. The new smart cabrio will launch in the United States in early summer of 2016.

Despite being early in the new year, there are already plans for a number of different smart events in 2015.  While many of these events are based in the US, Canadians are more than welcome to attend those as well.  There are also a few Canadian events in the planning phases as well, so have a look at those too!
Probably the first large event of the year is the Ohio April Fools rally, taking place April 10th-12th, 2015.  The rally will be held somewhere around Central Ohio (Location not yet determined), and is being organized by jwight.  Last years rally ended with the group touring the Ohio State Reformatory, the filming location of The Shawshank Redemption.  For further details on this years event, click through to the SCoA thread HERE
The next major event of the year is the Midwest Smart Rallye, "Meet me in St. Louie".  This event is taking place in St. Louis, Missouri from June 5th to 7th.  This one is shaping up to be a big event, with 20 cars signed up already.  For more details on the midwest rally, click HERE
Proposed for the same time frame is the Summer Blat, starting in Red Deer, Alberta, and ending in Lake Louise, Alberta.  The schedule outlined puts the event as running from June 5th until June 8th.  If you are interested in this event, post over in the thread HERE
Following up after that is the ever popular "OutSMARTing the Dragon" event.  Running from August 20th to August 23rd, this event pits drivers against the twisty-turny Tail of the Dragon, also known as US 129.  The Tail of the Dragon is an 11 mile stretch of road through the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, with 318 curves.  The event will be based out of the Fontana Village Resort in Fontana Dam, North Carolina.  For the full details, follow THIS link.
Finally, one event which is still in the "gathering interest" phase, is a 2015 Summer Driver's Training event that Mike T is looking to put together.  The event would be at a track (potentially Pitt Meadows or the Mission Raceway) in BC.  This event also holds the potential of being another 10th Anniversary of Smart in Canada event.  Because this event is just gathering interest, there is no set date.  If you are interested in participating in this, or would like to provide some input, look HERE

A separate registry of the smart fortwo 450's that were imported into the USA by G&K has now been put online!  Currently we have 114 of the cars in our registry, and are looking to find and enter the information for the rest of them.  The registry can be found HERE, or under the "Car Registries" menu at the top of the page.  The same disclaimer as we applied for the Canadian registry applies here:

    @  Francesco : (04 October 2015 - 10:46 AM) Local rebuilders stock them, I think I paid $200 after the core refund

@  turbomar : (04 October 2015 - 09:12 AM) I am shopping for an alternator. Checking g with you guys if this is the right one for my CDI?
@  Francesco : (03 October 2015 - 09:46 PM) Before agreeing to them, check the dates on the tires. For that price they're still worth it if less than three years old.
    @  steveyfrac : (03 October 2015 - 12:56 PM) I'm pretty confident they aren't manufactured anymore. I'm asking Bridgestone.
    @  steveyfrac : (03 October 2015 - 12:56 PM) And the 60 being discontinued. Years ago...

    @  steveyfrac : (03 October 2015 - 12:55 PM) http://blog.tirerack...he-blizzak-ws70

Here's the 70 on closeout article.
@  Huronlad : (03 October 2015 - 12:29 PM) Brdgestone Canada still has the WS60 listed on their website.  The tire retailer local to me stated they were still being manufactured.
    @  NelsonSmart : (03 October 2015 - 09:58 AM) If they were stored indoors, then they won't be sun-damaged/cracked
@  steveyfrac : (03 October 2015 - 09:07 AM) Ya, the WS60 was discontinued, and the WS70 as well. It's like.. two generations out of date
@  steveyfrac : (03 October 2015 - 09:06 AM) I thought it was discontinued a few years ago as well. But they checked stock, and they can get me something.

Should I be worried that they would be old tires?
@  Huronlad : (03 October 2015 - 06:35 AM) If you can get a set of WS-60 installed for around $500 jump on it.  I was quoted about $680 earlier this year and that was for all 145s.
    @  Francesco : (02 October 2015 - 07:18 PM) although I thought he 60 was disco'd a couple of years ago
    @  Francesco : (02 October 2015 - 07:17 PM) Yeah, that's a good price!
    @  dmoonen : (02 October 2015 - 05:47 PM) Thats not bad, I remember paying 800+
    @  steveyfrac : (02 October 2015 - 04:38 PM) My local shop can source Blizzak WS60s in 145 / 175 sizes, for around $500 installed.

Good deal? Did people like the Blizzaks last time they were around?
@  Mike T : (02 October 2015 - 04:36 PM) Actually I don't see these in the catalogues any more. MAybe it'll have to be the Pro...
    @  Mike T : (02 October 2015 - 04:12 PM) are Conti Premium Contacts still available in fortwo 450 sizes (175/195)?
    @  steveyfrac : (01 October 2015 - 06:23 PM) Thanks. I'll get a quote from my local store.
@  Huronlad : (01 October 2015 - 05:57 PM) The 145/65r15 is similar in size to the 155/60r15.  Both match up with the 175/55r15.
@  steveyfrac : (01 October 2015 - 05:32 PM) And no issue with traction control??
    @  Huronlad : (01 October 2015 - 05:31 PM) 145s will fit.
    @  steveyfrac : (01 October 2015 - 05:27 PM) My fronts are 155's... Do the 145s fit?
@  Huronlad : (01 October 2015 - 05:01 PM) Ordered a set of the Toyos from PMC.  They have 145/175 sizes for the smart. Or in my case 145/145.
@  Francesco : (01 October 2015 - 03:57 PM) If I'm not mistaken, someone found a great Costco deal last year
    @  marchanna : (01 October 2015 - 10:21 AM) https://winter-tires...-65r15-74t.tire
    @  marchanna : (01 October 2015 - 10:18 AM) I think I searched the 145's for the front. We've got the same rims.
@  steveyfrac : (01 October 2015 - 10:03 AM) Were the Toyos available in both the 155 and 175 sizes?

I think you have different rims than I do...
@  Huronlad : (01 October 2015 - 09:16 AM) I am going to give Toyos a try.  They have a $70 mail in rebate currently for the GSi5.
@  marchanna : (01 October 2015 - 06:14 AM) I was just looking on pmctire yesterday and I saw the toyos
@  FlossyTheSmart : (01 October 2015 - 06:12 AM) IIRC Blizzaks stopped being available in smart sizes last year? I know I ended up getting Conti's for the cabrio
@  dmoonen : (01 October 2015 - 04:39 AM) I love blizaks, only winter tire I put on my rides when available.
@  Francesco : (30 September 2015 - 08:26 PM) You've been lucky Marc. :) Or unlucky (lots of snow)... Here roads are bare 95% of the winter...
@  steveyfrac : (30 September 2015 - 07:33 PM) PMCtire doesn't appear to have Toyos are Blizzacks available. I'ts Kuhmo, Vredstein, or Continentals
@  marchanna : (30 September 2015 - 06:50 PM) I'm going on my third season with Blizzaks and they have lots of tread left. Just my experience
    @  Francesco : (30 September 2015 - 05:55 PM) eibach front spring..... Jeeedoof
@  Francesco : (30 September 2015 - 05:54 PM) Wonder how Jocko and son have succeeded with the Eibachsdont spring instal.......
@  Francesco : (30 September 2015 - 05:51 PM) I made the choic and invested in roadie front steelies and got four 185/55-15 Nokian Hakkaa 5s and was pleased as punch for four years. Last season they were a bit less great. I'll get one more year out of them. May go Hakkaa 7 next winter.
@  Francesco : (30 September 2015 - 05:49 PM) every set of Blizzaks I've owned have been toast after one season. I gave up and would rather drive on harder (read: slicker) Contis or Michelins. But in our sizes.... Very limited choices.
@  Francesco : (30 September 2015 - 05:48 PM) It depends on conditions... Blizzaks are pretty much the stickiest ice/slush/hardpack tires ever. But if you drive on a lot I've clear asphalt over the winter, they wear quickly.
@  marchanna : (30 September 2015 - 03:28 PM) Conti's are okay, but I think you'll be more happy with Blizzaks or Toyo's - they have a little more aggressive tread for clawing through the snow.
@  steveyfrac : (30 September 2015 - 10:13 AM) Thanks Marc. Overall, people pretty happy with the Continental winter tires though? If they're new anyways?
    @  dmoonen : (30 September 2015 - 08:00 AM) Anyone see the Tesla Model X launch yesterday? http://www.teslamotors.com/modelx
    @  marchanna : (30 September 2015 - 07:48 AM) Check out pmctire.com - lots of options there.
@  steveyfrac : (30 September 2015 - 07:35 AM) Looks like I'm going to be out a couple of hundred to get some new winters. :(
@  steveyfrac : (30 September 2015 - 06:50 AM) Are the Continentals the only tires available for winter for a 450?
