Was there ever an automatic lights sensor option available for the 450's? I ask because there is a forum member in a Portuguese smart's forum that has had two fortwo Brabus with this option, although I've never seen it or found any information about it.

As we have DRL's over here there really isn't any need...

...and the DRL put all the exterior lights on, so it could be confused with "automatic lights".

...Unless the OP is talking about automatic dimming of high beams, that terribly feature that dims unpredictably and erratically, refusing to dim for the other car when it's on the outside of a curve, dims for reflective signs, comes back on bright when the other cars dims theirs, etc?

Nope. I'm really talking about an Automatic lights sensor, just like the 451. Do you know if it was ever fitted to the EU 450's?

Our DRL package does include a "coming home" function.
