Despite being early in the new year, there are already plans for a number of different smart events in 2015.  While many of these events are based in the US, Canadians are more than welcome to attend those as well.  There are also a few Canadian events in the planning phases as well, so have a look at those too!

Probably the first large event of the year is the Ohio April Fools rally, taking place April 10th-12th, 2015.  The rally will be held somewhere around Central Ohio (Location not yet determined), and is being organized by jwight.  Last years rally ended with the group touring the Ohio State Reformatory, the filming location of The Shawshank Redemption.  For further details on this years event, click through to the SCoA thread HERE

The next major event of the year is the Midwest Smart Rallye, "Meet me in St. Louie".  This event is taking place in St. Louis, Missouri from June 5th to 7th.  This one is shaping up to be a big event, with 20 cars signed up already.  For more details on the midwest rally, click HERE

Proposed for the same time frame is the Summer Blat, starting in Red Deer, Alberta, and ending in Lake Louise, Alberta.  The schedule outlined puts the event as running from June 5th until June 8th.  If you are interested in this event, post over in the thread HERE

Following up after that is the ever popular "OutSMARTing the Dragon" event.  Running from August 20th to August 23rd, this event pits drivers against the twisty-turny Tail of the Dragon, also known as US 129.  The Tail of the Dragon is an 11 mile stretch of road through the foothills of the Smoky Mountains, with 318 curves.  The event will be based out of the Fontana Village Resort in Fontana Dam, North Carolina.  For the full details, follow THIS link.

Finally, one event which is still in the "gathering interest" phase, is a 2015 Summer Driver's Training event that Mike T is looking to put together.  The event would be at a track (potentially Pitt Meadows or the Mission Raceway) in BC.  This event also holds the potential of being another 10th Anniversary of Smart in Canada event.  Because this event is just gathering interest, there is no set date.  If you are interested in participating in this, or would like to provide some input, look HERE

Any events I missed?  Leave a comment below and we can add more information!

A separate registry of the smart fortwo 450's that were imported into the USA by G&K has now been put online!  Currently we have 114 of the cars in our registry, and are looking to find and enter the information for the rest of them.  The registry can be found HERE, or under the "Car Registries" menu at the top of the page.  The same disclaimer as we applied for the Canadian registry applies here:

ClubsmartCar has prepared a comprehensive Registry of all smart 450s (1998-2006 models) that we are aware of in North America.  We certainly have all 10,239 of the Canadian 450s, and we are making headway on adding the approximately 1,300 US 450s that were converted to meet US DOT certification by G&K in California.

In compiling the data within the Registry, we have added information concerning the colours and options that the cars spotted in person or on the Internet are known to have, whether they have been in collisions or have been declared “Salvage”, “Scrapped”, “Rebuilt”, or whether the engine is known to have had a serious internal failure.  This information has been collected from various sources.  It may therefore be of variable quality.  However, we hope that you find it interesting, and useful.

We are also looking to have updated information added from time to time, and in this quest, any information that you may be able to contribute may be submitted, and may be displayed after the content is reviewed.

As time and circumstances allow, we will be adding the 451 and eventually the 453 model to the Registry.

The Canadian 450 registry can be found HERE, or by following the "Car Registries" menu at the top of the page.

@  Surturiel : (05 July 2015 - 10:58 PM) oh, ok, Mike. wide® 15" it is. anything against aftermarket ones?
@  Mike T : (05 July 2015 - 09:14 PM) 16s will give better roadholding but a worse ride. Wider 15s will probably not affect ride at all because there is the same height of rubber between the rim and road as the stylelines, but the roadholding will improve a lot; however going to 16s of the proper size will lose a half inch of rubber, giving a worse ride....and a much higher potential for rim damage.
@  Mike T : (05 July 2015 - 09:11 PM) You can use 16s, it's just that they will be damage prone and you will need to use the recommended sizes or the circumferences will differ too much between front and rear axles and the ESP will create a huge problem. Aside from that, there is not room in the 450 wheel wells for oversized tires on 16 inch rims...the rears if 205 mm in width should be 45 series not 50. Fronts should be 175/50-16.
    @  Surturiel : (05 July 2015 - 08:54 PM) (what did I get into..)
    @  Surturiel : (05 July 2015 - 08:54 PM) is it THAT compllicated to get 16" wheels on a 450?
    @  Surturiel : (05 July 2015 - 08:45 PM) 185/50 and 205/50 r16"
@  Mike T : (05 July 2015 - 07:45 PM) You can't use 185/50 and 205/50, the ESP will freak out and the car will be undriveable. I find that 175/55-15 front and 195/50-15 rear to be the best compromise between ride and handling.
    @  marchanna : (05 July 2015 - 06:31 PM) LED headlights installed
@  Surturiel : (05 July 2015 - 05:59 PM) right now I have the Stylines with 145/55 front and 175/50 rear. I find the car skitterish on the highway and the ride is kinda harsh. I was considering 16"s with 185/50 front and 205/50 back, on the Trilines. possible? Would that improve both the comfort and stability?
@  Mike T : (05 July 2015 - 04:46 PM) If you are concerned about rim damage due to rough roads, don't even consider 16s.
@  Francesco : (05 July 2015 - 04:18 PM) I think the Monoblock VI is soft, not sure if other OE smart/BRABUS rims are. Afaik the smart and BRABUS rims are all OEMd by Ronal or ATS.
    @  Surturiel : (05 July 2015 - 11:41 AM) and what about the trilines?
@  dmoonen : (05 July 2015 - 06:48 AM) I had 17" on the rears. bra is rims are soft as butter. Had to get mine straighten out twice in a three year span
    @  Surturiel : (05 July 2015 - 02:26 AM) wider 15" then?
    @  Surturiel : (05 July 2015 - 02:25 AM) So, no 16" wheels on a 450?
    @  Mike T : (04 July 2015 - 10:35 PM) ...to avoid bent rims
@  Mike T : (04 July 2015 - 10:11 PM) 15" BRABUS wheels are fine. The 16s need more tire than the 450 can handle.
    @  Surturiel : (04 July 2015 - 08:53 PM) on a 450
@  Surturiel : (04 July 2015 - 08:52 PM) smartmadness has 3x112 to 5x112 adapters, but they are 19mm thick. and I read that this is not enough for the rear wheels using OEM mercedes wheels
    @  Surturiel : (04 July 2015 - 08:49 PM) So, no Brabus?
@  Mike T : (04 July 2015 - 08:47 PM) Used 16s out of Europe would be fraction of 3 grand. But the 16 inch BRABUS wheels are like bubble gum. Fairly warned be thee says I
    @  Surturiel : (04 July 2015 - 08:47 PM) nope. there's no 6x112 pattern.
@  NelsonSmart : (04 July 2015 - 10:03 AM) There must be some 16"rims with 6 holes that could have the same offset that may work, that will take research/investigation
    @  Surturiel : (04 July 2015 - 09:12 AM) any options on 16" wheels that don't end up costing almost 3k, then?
@  cadillacman : (04 July 2015 - 04:27 AM) the adaptors are going to act as a spacer kit, which will increase the offset, which will put a bit more stress on the bearings, we have delicate bearings
@  SmartED : (04 July 2015 - 04:15 AM) Going to the five lug application does improve your options in terms of wheel choices because there is a lot more out there. But, is it worth it? I don't know and I'm sure others more informed will join in.
    @  Surturiel : (03 July 2015 - 04:01 PM) Question ( as usual) I'm investigating the whole 3 to 5 lug adapters for wheels. worth the time/investiment?
    @  Surturiel : (03 July 2015 - 04:00 PM) hi, everyone
    @  Mike T : (01 July 2015 - 06:36 PM) LOL
    @  Mike T : (01 July 2015 - 06:36 PM) oops make that fogs
@  Mike T : (01 July 2015 - 06:36 PM) It's totally weird and you will have to cut the wiring. You are right not to use the OE smart fags, they are utter trash and the reflector melts after ten hours of use.
@  Surturiel : (01 July 2015 - 06:07 PM) question: (as usual) what kind of connector does the 450 fog light uses? I want to put an aftermarket fog light and don't want to cut the original wiring...
    @  Mike T : (01 July 2015 - 10:13 AM) Good Canada Day eh?
    @  Surturiel : (01 July 2015 - 10:08 AM) happy canada day!
    @  SmartED : (01 July 2015 - 01:34 AM) Happy Canada Day everyone
@  Surturiel : (30 June 2015 - 09:14 PM) opinion: are those 3 to 5 stud adapters safe? I want a set of 16", but they're both hard to find and expensive...
    @  Mike T : (30 June 2015 - 08:39 PM) *Jodhpur, damn fat fingers
    @  Mike T : (30 June 2015 - 08:38 PM) *bolt
@  Mike T : (30 June 2015 - 08:38 PM) Take 'em off and three are three bold holes plus a large round one. Best to think of them as Jodphurs
@  Surturiel : (30 June 2015 - 07:57 PM) question: is there a way to remove those hip inserts?
@  FlossyTheSmart : (30 June 2015 - 05:14 AM) And that's without mentioning that compared to many cars, there were very few 450s made, and it's now 8 years out of production
@  FlossyTheSmart : (30 June 2015 - 05:12 AM) Well, I think you'll find it difficult to find ANY seat covers for a 450. There aren't a lot of offerings around
@  Surturiel : (29 June 2015 - 09:25 PM) on this topic, why is SO DAMN HARD to find leather seat covers for 450?
    @  Surturiel : (29 June 2015 - 09:24 PM) sorry!
    @  Mike T : (29 June 2015 - 09:19 PM) nor is it a leather seat!
    @  Surturiel : (29 June 2015 - 07:52 PM) leather seat
    @  Mike T : (29 June 2015 - 02:00 PM) This is not a search box!
    @  mowser : (29 June 2015 - 11:42 AM) resetting the service reminder
    @  mowser : (29 June 2015 - 09:53 AM) 299891
@  LeoBarbosa : (22 June 2015 - 06:03 PM) Just a feedback, the rear struts were really easy to do. Thanks for the tips. Payed $120 for both sides, at the dealership, in Calgary, AB.
