  1. Hi Folks, I'm due for the 2 year service on my 2014 Smart EV, it only has 18,000kms on it. My local Dealer has quoted me $335 plus a brake flush at $99. I totally think the brake flush is ridiculous for a 2 year old car but I have know idea if the $335 normal? To my knowledge its to replace the cartridge, do I actually need to do this? FYI it's a $99 a month lease which matures in 1 year. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Glenn
  2. I'll take one as well.
  3. This is all great information thank you, I'm using a 14 gauge max 15 amp extension cord so I think I'm ok and I live in a newer 7year old house so I'll be charging on 12 amps next charge for sure. First charge results with 20% and on 8 amps two green bars. 16 hours 99 km at 100% 3 Degrees Celsius (inside garage temp) Is this normal? Now I'm really interested in a L2 charger if the rebate is still available, I know the previous owner never applied for the charger rebate. What is the average cost of a L2 charger installed in our area? What are people using out there? I'm planning on moving in the next couple of years so something portable would be more ideal. Thanks again for all your help. Glenn
  4. Thanks guys, first day with the ED and loving it. Is it risky to hit the button? I live in a regular Mattamy cookie cutter house so I'm pretty sure I have the basic electrical requirements. How much time do you save with pushing the button?
  5. Hi folks, I just picked up a 2014 Ed on a lease takeover today and have a few questions. Can I charge the ED daily with an extension cord? In the manual it clearly states that you should never charge with an extension cord. Also should I always press the current button (big button) when charging? Today is my first charge and I haven't pressed the button, the current owner said he never used that button while charging, he also only used an extention cord while charging. I'm assuming not pressing this button will take longer to charge, I think the previous owner was scared he would over load his breaker. Also what are the charging times from 20% with both charging scenarios (with or without pressing that button)? Sorry if these are stupid questions, I'm currently reading the manual. Thanks, Glenn
  6. Thanks for that info Steve, it won't be a daily driver so I doubt I'll even take it out if it's that cold. Good to know that it's doable and thank god I have a warm winter coat. I went to check out the car and took it out for a test drive and love it, pulling the trigger. I'm going to have tons of questions so just a heads up folks.
  7. Thanks Glenn, I'm really looking forward to driving an ED. I hope the winter range can accommodate 70kms, there's been so many mixed reviews on winter range.
  8. That's what I was thinking but any recalls I should be asking about? Again it's only a year old and under warranty so I think I should be good. I'm looking forward to my first EV but worried about the winter driving. Glenn
  9. Hello All, I'm considering taking over a 2014 Smart Electric and wanted to get some advice on what to look for when inspecting the car before proceeding with the paperwork? Any help would be greatly appreciated, this is my first experience with an electric car. Specifically looking for any electrical checks etc. if any. Thank you in advance. 2014 Smart Electric 16900km 20 months remaining $99 a month 36000km limit Black and silver Thanks, Glenn
