The exposed wheel nuts looked unfinished so I searched for chrome nut covers to fit. Not as easy to find as I thought but here's what they look like.

Before:

After:

The covers I found, 5/8", are not an exact fit so I used a bit of poster "stickum" to make sure they'd stay put. Still searching for a better solution.

That looks nice. I wonder if the sticky tac will last at all? Maybe there's something better you should use to fit it, like silicon caulk perhaps? Be hard to get off, but you won't lose the chrome.

Hmm... reminds me last year I found a place in Kamloops that sells chrome nut covers. Same place that distributes DuraCool refrigerant. I should stop in there next time I'm up that way... Meantime I did get a set of bright zinc plated nuts that looked great but all the service guys and their bluddy air hammers have made a mess of them anyway angry.gif

Careful - wheels can get a bit toasty especially in the summer - nuts included - not sure the stickum will hold up to that. The spinning aspect can add a fair bit of force too especially at highway speeds.

Nothing ruins your day worse than having a stainless nut cover come through your windshield from the car in front - expect maybe if it is a transport truck loosing a wheel assembly - definately ruins your day worse.

Watch out for glues and adhesives - eventually you will have to take the cover off - even a thin coat of glue with a nice flat surface can really get stuck on there - not the thing to find out at the side of the road in the rain and dark.

A dimple on each side of the cover might do the trick - how you put it there might be the challenge (pair of vice grips with a bolt and nut welded on the end al la hole punch would be my choice).

Cheers,
Cameron

The ones I saw in "the 'Loops" were heavily chromed ferrous metal and kind of cam-twist-fit on quite tightly. They are made for the trucker crowd and will hopefully fit my after-market 17mm bolt heads really snugly!
