@  moi : (25 August 2016 - 01:48 PM) London ON Smart Car guru...where r yu?
@  Mike T : (24 August 2016 - 08:38 PM) Yeah because the injectors don't spray fuel at the intake valves, gumming them up is possible. A good thrash from time to time at redline will do wonders.
@  smartzuum : (24 August 2016 - 07:51 PM) Italian tune-ups for DI engines I read, above and beyond good fuel and proper maintenance. Jap engines LOVE to rev.
@  smartzuum : (24 August 2016 - 07:36 PM) Interesting point Mike..... I'm typically a Chevron guy for gas, so not too worried about gas quality itself. But a good reminder to keep the oil VERY clean and do occasional spirited driving as well.... which it got last night on the way back from Penticton on the Coq. Hard to avoid DI engines nowadays I reckon.... the unlimited powertrain warranty for 5 years is comforting....
@  dmoonen : (24 August 2016 - 10:58 AM) Oh yeah 94 octane fuel :/
@  dmoonen : (24 August 2016 - 10:50 AM) Im getting like 17-18mpg right now with the R32. My whole fuel mileage thing just runs off pure smiles per mile now.
@  Mike T : (24 August 2016 - 05:59 AM) Not bad. I would point out that the best I've achieved in the old-tech B 200 is a bit better than that! The Mazda has direct injection. So watch for valve gunk buildup.
@  smartzuum : (23 August 2016 - 11:53 PM) Best tank so far is 5.85 L/100 km in the CX-5.... and seem to be averaging around 6.1 overall..... incredible.... just got back from 2500 km road trip - through the rockies!
@  smart65 : (19 August 2016 - 06:55 AM) Ours has auto though.
@  smart65 : (19 August 2016 - 06:54 AM) Good choice. We've had a similar model since July 2012. No regrets!
@  smartzuum : (18 August 2016 - 09:09 PM) no led lights or navigation screens.... oops....
@  smartzuum : (18 August 2016 - 09:08 PM) 2.0 litre, 155 hp, and thank goodness, no LED lights of van screens on the base model... cruise, stereo, info display, AC.... all I need! It's a wonder you can get something like this still.
@  smartzuum : (18 August 2016 - 09:06 PM) 65 cubic feet cargo room behind the front row with second row flat, a must for me now.....
@  smartzuum : (18 August 2016 - 09:05 PM) Gone is the Volvo V50 T5 FWD automatic.... I got $4500 trade, which with the tax savings got me $5040 of my $5500 total out of pocket on purchase and tax and repairs... not bad for a years driving.... the mazda has a 5 year UNLIMITED kms warranty on the powertrain.... and 3 years unlimited kms bumper to bumper.... unreal. Looks like it can do 6.0 on the highway, just anecdotally from the trip meter in the vehicle, but we'll see soon enough.
@  smartzuum : (18 August 2016 - 09:02 PM) Tuesday night, I spent about 5 hours on the net doing a bit more looking into new vehicles... and long story short, decided by 2 am Wednesday that I was likely to get a new Mazda CX-5 in FWD with a 6 speed manual.... Went into the dealer at 4 Wednesday and was done the deal by 6... picked up the dark grey base model at 1 pm today, and so far, I'm pretty impressed. Therefore, the k has become an m....
@  smartzuum : (18 August 2016 - 08:54 PM) but we've read about this issue before!!!
@  smartzuum : (18 August 2016 - 08:53 PM) what the heck???? how do they screw that up? bad
@  Mike T : (18 August 2016 - 06:42 PM) oh man
@  Surturiel : (18 August 2016 - 10:21 AM) (but they asked to send them the bill, so they will refund me)
@  Surturiel : (18 August 2016 - 10:20 AM) now I need to fix my front fender that they broke because they put the rear wheels on the right and the front ones on the left...
@  Surturiel : (18 August 2016 - 10:19 AM) the guys at kaltire paid me 40 for all of them T.T
@  Surturiel : (18 August 2016 - 10:19 AM) I had to leave them behind, Mike T. nowhere to put them...
@  cadillacman : (15 August 2016 - 04:49 PM) or go to http://clubsmartcar....showtopic=28124
@  cadillacman : (15 August 2016 - 04:49 PM) pick any topic on this forum and then replace the topic # at then end of the url
@  moi : (15 August 2016 - 12:51 PM) this website and,I are not getting along at all...methinks I am just not good with computers. LOL. I need a tutor or something.
@  moi : (15 August 2016 - 12:50 PM) how do I look up topic 28124?
@  moi : (15 August 2016 - 12:50 PM) Cadillacman
@  Mike T : (14 August 2016 - 06:05 PM) glad you made it.
@  Mike T : (14 August 2016 - 06:05 PM) Left near Dryden?
@  Mike T : (14 August 2016 - 06:05 PM) What did you do with the three good tires you had before?
@  Surturiel : (14 August 2016 - 11:36 AM) Unfortunately I bought them from Kaltire, and though they replace them no questions asked, the nearest store is in Ontario...
@  Surturiel : (14 August 2016 - 11:35 AM) Now I need to replace the intercooler and find a way to trade these 185/60s...
@  Surturiel : (14 August 2016 - 11:34 AM) So, we (me and the car) survived the trip! I'm in Halifax!
@  Surturiel : (14 August 2016 - 11:34 AM) Hey, people
@  moi : (14 August 2016 - 11:27 AM) Consider it done!! Membership is inexpensive and and I am way below novice. Love the car very much but am too inexperienced to deal with these things.
@  cadillacman : (14 August 2016 - 08:00 AM) see topic 28124 on this forum
@  cadillacman : (14 August 2016 - 07:54 AM) smartest tool you can purchase at this point is a membership to http://www.evilution.co.uk/
@  Mike T : (14 August 2016 - 07:49 AM) Unscrew the SAM from the front edge of the dash - T-10. Then it's easier to pull the whole thing down and get at the top side where all the connectors are. They're all labelled, molded into the SAM casing. N11-3 with the brown plug.
@  moi : (14 August 2016 - 07:43 AM) PS...I gotta read up on how one discerns which 'connector' is the right one...I imagine there is something already on the forum to show how to identify each connector.
@  moi : (14 August 2016 - 07:40 AM) You guys are much appreciated by this pure amateur.
@  moi : (14 August 2016 - 07:39 AM) I wish someone knowledgeable lived closer to Owen Sound..
@  moi : (14 August 2016 - 07:38 AM) It's interesting that when I started to remove the cardboard cover that hides the SAM the actual unit was already unclipped and dangling...the dealer I got it from must have been monkeying about in there. The thing cranks rapidly but won't start and there is no fuel pump sound.
@  Mike T : (13 August 2016 - 10:07 AM) Yes I should have! oops
@  cadillacman : (13 August 2016 - 09:54 AM) I think Mike should have said N11-3
@  Mike T : (13 August 2016 - 09:54 AM) For clarity, what I called "connector" below in the first post is actually the whole plug or plug head (brown plastic) but elsewhere it means the single electrical contact within the plug.
@  Mike T : (13 August 2016 - 09:29 AM) With respect to replacing the plug head, the plastic bit will be enough but if the corrosion or heat damage on the female connector is too bad you can replace that single connector.
@  Mike T : (13 August 2016 - 09:28 AM) Take out the N-11-2 connector and look for melting. If there is melting, if you are lucky replacing the plug head (repair kit available from Mercedes) will revive the SAM. And that plus both headlight circuits require an external relay to protect the SAM. There are threads in the operations and maintenance forum about this.
@  moi : (13 August 2016 - 09:10 AM) PS....so...how does one clean those "plugs"? Spray? Sandpaper? Mini wire brush? Shotgun?? Just kidding on hat one....maybe.
@  moi : (13 August 2016 - 09:08 AM) Mike T. Thanks very much for the comeback. My little Smart Passion will crank over vigorously but NO sound of the fuel pump running. Methinks it is time for me and "Sam" to have a visit....
@  smartzuum : (12 August 2016 - 09:26 PM) Last chance on canada1 at $6500 before I roll it over 100km soon.... :) If you are quick, you can do the honour!

Hi Les, that looks very nice. Do you make a covered trailer? Something to keep sun, rain, mud, rocks, dirt off the car? cheers, Mark in Montreal

Mark, I don't have a covered unit at this time. There are plenty of covered ATV and Motorcycle Trailers out there but they weigh in over 2500 lbs. They don't fall in to my market so I don't sell them. The optional deflector upgrade does a great job of keeping stones off of your smart though.Cheers,Les
