Yep, roadster steelies. They look good on the car. I need to acquire the moon discs though... The full wheel cover looks a tiny bit lame.

I was going to put a day permit on the car today and put 50 kms on each set of wheels and get the battery back to to snuf, but alas, I am under the weather..... so I just ran it at 2,000 RPM for 10 minutes yesterday. That should do for a couple weeks.

Yeah, I have the Roadster rims too for summers & couldn't wait to get the moon hubcaps on....the full covers are sitting in my garage somewhere, they will go cheap.

I put a day permit on the canada1 so I can burn off a half tank of diesel and get the battery back up to snuff, it was getting a little bit low, not totally depleted, but it needs a real drive. I usually get it up to operating temp in the underground every month and put it through a few gear changes, but that's not enough to keep the battery happy long term.

In the process of putting my summers on. only this time I didn't stop at the wheels.
Got the passenger side stripped down to the spindle soon the bus will have new front bearings and brakes,
not a day too soon as it cost me $75 in fuel to go 450 km in the Tacoma.... angry.gif

I don't remember, but I guess there is no electrical outlet so you can plug in a battery minder? The one I got this winter is wonderful - small and smart. I've wired the pigtail to the battery, and the charger is compact enough to leave under the seat and plug into the pass-through cable as needed.

How do you mean differant? I'm asking because I've got a set of 195/50r15 Bridgestone Potenzas around and was tempted to try them on the smart when my summer tires wear out.

As an alternative....if you already have a pig tail on your car battery. Make a very short set of light gauge "jumper cables" that mate up to the pig tail and have the proper polarity.

Would it then work to get another good used car battery real cheap (any size) and keep it charged in your home all weekend and then all week leave it on the passenger floor hooked up to the new "jumper cable" pigtail?

The tight new bearings showed up a loose upper ball joint on the passenger side, installed this morning.
Now all I have left is to put my summers on the back wheels......

Cleaned out the EGR for the second time. Took about 2 hours cleaning it in situ with Q tips and carb cleaner. A quick blask on the highway to clear it out and then reset the fault code. Good as new and she's pulling again like when she first got her upgrade!

I find that the wider tires on the rear handles better in highway driving and it also take corners pretty good. I am thinking about buying the BF Goodrich G Force tires.

Ew.

Found out some good news and some not good news today. MB West Island has received the go-ahead from MBC to replace everything in my doors (except the hinges). While playing around with my car this last week, they also discovered that my aircon is dead again, so they have put in for authorization to do the new AC fix.

The bad? While removing some masking tape from my front end that was intended to protect from scratches while they took off the panels, some paint peeled off -- last year's accident repairs involved painted black panels. So they will likely be sending my front end back to the body shop to be re-sprayed.

That sounds like good news, if the winter had been unkind to the paint! Aside from the hassle factor. Why do you need new "everything" in your doors?

I have only put about 12k km on the 450 since getting the 451. Now that the warm weather is nearly here the 450 will be driven much more often.

Sounds like something I need to do - I just got the P0401 code on my way home last night. Can you or anyone else describe the in situ process of cleaning out the EGR (or direct me to a how-to)?

Switched back to the scratch black panels this afternoon (1.5 hours this time). I also topped up the AC, since it seemed to be running warm. I'd love to get the permanent AC fix, but Star won't be getting my patronage, so it'll have to wait.
