Hey smart 142, love to convoy, but I'll be blowing out of London around 6:00 am, after filling up with some Gold at Wellington and Exeter!
smart142
WOW!! You are the early bird! It would be hard to get the troops to agree to an early start like that zoink.gif
kwaldron
Are coming through the Hammer on the way, or taking a different route. If the former, maybe a bunch of us at the west end of the Lake could meet you somewhere to join up with your convoy.

You could count me in for that one too.
smart142
By my calculations, the London convoy would be passing by the Fairview mall,403/QEW at 0830 hrs. We could make a stop at the Ikea parking lot to meet up.
It is another 30 minutes to Mark's parking lot. Thoughts?
kwaldron
That would work for us.
Diesel Dave
The Ikea lot seems perfect. Lots of space and it's right by the hwy ramps.

The Ikea lot seems perfect. Lots of space and it's right by the hwy ramps.

Careful with those ramps:
The exit to Fairview St., that lands you beside IKEA, can be reached from 403 east-bound (follow FAIRVIEW exit). It can also be reached from 407 tollway westbound (also follow FAIRVIEW exit).

You cannot get off the (combined) QEW/403 westbound at Fairview. If coming by this HWY, exit at Brant St; come south to Plains Rd *, west to Maple, south to Fairview, west to IKEA (5 ins from the exit). (If you miss Brant Street, better just stay on QEW and proceed to St. Catharines, unless you know Burlington.

If you are coming along QEW from the Skyway bridge, you can exit at Fairview, turn left to IKEA.

From IKEA, Diesel is right, we can jump back onto QEW Niagara-bound.

* Sunoco Diesel at intersection Brant & Plains Rd.

We'll see you in St. Catharines at Mark's as we're going over the day before to visit friends and will be staying at the Travelodge in St. C. on the 9th and 10th. Looks like a great convoy!!

Meeting the Caravan from Quebec:
Because we are coming from Quebec, we have to plan our departure on June 9, go as far as possible the first day and find lodging for Saturday night. We were thinking about lodging in Niagara Saturday night. Perhaps, we should find lodging on our way and join you Sunday morning for the parade to Niagara.
Let me check with the Quebecois what are their intentions on that.
Any suggestion on this?
SMARTING
This is one that I'm not going to miss! I'll join in at my usual 401/19 interchange at Ingersoll as you go by. At the speeds I'm driving these days for super mileage I should probably leave home by 5:00 laugh.gif

Joyce and I will likely join you at the 401/59 interchange. We will not be sure until the last minute so don't stop or wait for us - if we aren't at the side of the 401 we may have left the day before and stayed overnight or just were unable to meet up.

Hope to be part of the "Congo"
otisthecat
Hey Glenn,

We are going down on Friday and camping out so we will not be in the convoy. See you Sunday.
smart142
Just got back from my trip to the Micro show in Georgia yesterday and was getting updated on the Niagara cruise. The May 25th posting has breakfast from 0800-0930. If we went with my original plan we would be arriving at 0900 and that might be cutting it a little fine. It would probably be better to bump up the leave time to 0700, Burlington by 0800, and arriving by 0830.
Any objections?
kwaldron
No objection from me.

BTW, google maps posts the distance between the Burlington Ikea and the Mark's No frills at 55.4km and 39 minutes. Could somebody who actually KNOWS (sometimes I find goole maps accurate, sometimes WAAAAY out in left field) confirm, please?

Just a question... what about pee stops?... there might be a time where somone might need to go pee or grab a drink... Is there time set aside for that? smirk.gif
tim001ca
and another question.. somone got a extra Radio i could "rent" for the day?? or since they come in packs of two an extra one i could buy? This will also be up on the Buy and sell area.. thanx.gif
kwaldron
I will be bringing an extra radio. I suspect a number of others will as well. On our trip to Stowe we had sufficient that everyone was kept in contact.
Harold and Kumar
Hi guys, as I mentioned earlier, I (Harold) will be getting onto the 401 at 6:00 a.m., and picking up Kumar at around 6:30 a.m. near HWY 73. I will have a radio (it's a motorola T5530)....are you guys going to be on channel 4 code 0, or channel 4 code 2. It seems that it has been suggested to use just channel 4, as some radios don't have codes....so what's it gonna be?
smart142
4-0
some can't do the 4-2
Harold and Kumar
I posted about channels in Niagra Cruise, and it was suggested to use channel 4, as not all partipants have radios that have codes. So if you guys are on 4, and closing in on me, I'll know!

You can find accommodations in Burlington area or St. Catharines, or in between. If you make reservations, then let us know where and we can guide you to either the Burlington Ikea or another meeting place!
hotrod

TIMES WERE CHANGED!!!
Leave London 0700 Burlington at 0800
London - Burlington in 1 hour is just slightly ambitious, even on Sunday morning. Suitable for the heavy-footed. For the rest of you, if 0800 at Burlington is important, leave a few minutes earlier.

Info: At Ikea, there is no Tim Horton's. There's a Fortinos with washroom and coffee, but not open until 9. Probably Ikea, Second Cup and anything else there won't be open at 8 either.
mcalpido
We (Carol & Don in BB), along with Jack & Annabelle in Brusier, plan to meet the London contingent at Mark's doublethumb.gif
kwaldron
If you arrive just a bit before 0800 then just head west a bit on Plains Rd. There is a Tim's just a few minutes down the road on the left, or farther down on the right. Also a Mickey D on the right even closer if you are looking to pick up a pre-breakfast breakfast. Then come back to the Ikea.
Julika
Hi everybody!
I added the Quebec gang to your list. We'll meet you in Burlington (Ikea) at 8:00.

smart142
If you are coming from the east(Toronto) on the 403/QEW, you will have to take the Brant St. exit. You turn left ,or south, and then take a right on the 2nd road- which is Fairview. You pass the Mapleview mall on your left, and a little father is the Ikea on the right.

See you Sunday yahoo.gif
kwaldron
And while coming down Brant St. You will see a Tim Horton's on your left just after the second light (not counting the one you go through getting off the QEW). It's set back a bit so keep an eye out for it.
Julika
Thanks! We'll be there! race.gif
