  1. Yes it does make a difference. I actually noticed it the other day. We normally drive with the OEM luggage cover in place and I had taken it out for some reason. When I drove the car with it out, the engine noise was more noticable, not loud by any means, but more noticable. I even had to check to see if I left the back window unlatched. So yes it does make a slight difference.
  2. Thanks for posting the pics... it does come pretty close to the drive shaft doesn't it? Even with suspension travel it doesn't touch?? Is the EaO34 filter a little shorter? Has any one incorprated the little radiator style oil cooler for this car? I think I saw it on smartiparts.
  3. Now.... Where is Bio available at the pump in the Edmonton area??? Anyone know? Thanks for the info.
  4. I'm sure glad I posted the question.... Thanks for all the pictures. That's the heater I have. I needed to know how and where to mount it. Now I can see from the pictures that it's fairly straight forward.....and yes...we can sure use it in this bitter cold.... -32 here this morning.......bbrrrrrrrrrr.Thanks Dang... I'm glad to here it's working great for you.Bill
  5. I can't forsee the heater impacting the MPG of the car but depending on how much it is operated it will affect the range you can go before fill ups... but of course this is still better than getting in a cold car. The engine will be warm and therefore wear and tear on the engine will be much less which should lead to a longer life.I don't like the location that Smart chose to locate the block heater connection. It is very inconvenient to access and I can see the cap getting frozen on during slushy winter driving conditions.
  6. Do you have a phone number or E:mail for RCTS in Calgary.... would love to talk with Reg. Where did they mount the heater? Where did they tap in to the coolant lines....... lots of questions. Do you have pictures? We had our Smartie apart today looking for all the potential mounting places. Where do you purchase the "kit" made for the Smart? Now I know it can be done we will definitely make an attempt.Thanks.......
  7. Has anyone heard of a Webasto engine heater being installed on a Smart? These heaters are routinely used on diesel trucks and other equipment. On the same note... does anyone know where I can find pictures of the Smart underside with the belly pan removed so I can see the routing of coolant lines, etc. Thanks
