  1. A couple observations to add, it looks like basically the Titanium roll cage on these smart cars is up to the job they can take tremendous impact. I ended up with 4 broken ribs 3 broken vertebrae and 1 burst vertebrae 1 scraped up foot and the Titanium frame/roll cage took the impact like a champ quite impressive performance. How ever, I'm thinking most of the damage I received looks more like it was caused by the violent detonation of the air bags not the impact in the accident. I don't know if there ever was any update for the air bags but it might be a good idea if so to make sure you have the latest update for your air bags.
  2. I was traveling through the Fraser canyon in the snake pit area and crashed my 2006 they had to cut me out of the car so we can scratch 1 more Smart. I have no memory of the crash at all nothing, almost 100% of what was written in various quickly scratched out reports was not accurate, not correct and even true. Supposedly my car rolled 4 times but the sunroof glass was not broken and not a scratch on the metal on the roof. Does anybody know what the sunroof glass is made out of ? my sun roof was fixed it didn't open at all, do they break like wind shield glass ? are they maybe polycarbonite so it will flex significantly and not break ? If they bust like a wind shield and this one is not broken I don't see how the car could have rolled 4 times.
  3. I haven't even looked at my injectors to see how they come out. You might get it with a heel bar, pry up and rotate back and forth or you may use adaption and a slide hammer to pull it.
  4. 2 Bar translates into about 30 psi that's plenty of pressure for a small electric pump to produce that would take significant current draw.

  6. I have had decent luck with Fusion for I phone with an ELM327 WiFi adapter. I can read some fault codes and watch my iphone display Boost, Temp, Intake air temp, average fuel consumption as well as Voltage while I drive.
  7. Maybe there should be a sticky prioritized thread on this we have had several people with this really difficult problem to solve. What do you check and what order do you check them ? Can you separate the injector wiring for an induction coupling to verify signal pulse voltage rule this out and look at fuel ?
  8. No sense over thinking it just piss test it into a water bottle it's getting fuel or not getting fuel. What about you geniuses out there can you put an induction coupling on one injector wiring and detect a pulse of voltage ? If there is no pulse of voltage when you turn over the engine the injector is not receiving voltage so the search would narrow.
  9. Maybe pull an injector and have it piss into a pop bottle to see if you are getting any fuel at all I don't think you are. If you are getting any fuel at all it usually shows as White Smoke which is hot unburnt diesel fuel thats why it can sting your eyes. You may need a Star machine to sort this out if your mechanical engine timing is correct.
  10. Where did you get the new engine ? also don't use ether without disconnecting the glow plugs they will detonate ether and then you will be buying another brand new engine. My guess would be you are not getting fuel from the injectors. Maybe somebody can remember but there apparently are 2 plugs that can accidentally get swapped when reconnecting wiring.
  11. So far so good with my ELM327 WiFi adapter plus the Fusion app ! Torque Pro for Android is Equal or better than Fusion. I can watch various sensors as a gauge, interesting to see how fast air intake temp rises with turbo boost. Higher boost higher intake air temp. My Fusion app monitors fuel economy and settled at 4.4 liters per hundred clicks with the use of HotShot Secret Every day diesel treatment Cetane boost in my fuel. Also I should say North American diesel seems to be just what a knowledgeable person said, it is Wiener of petroleum fuels. Apparently a lot of less valuable petroleum products can get dumped into the diesel and do. The HotShot diesel treatment raises the Cetane rating of diesel I don't have anything to do with them but it makes my car run like it was designed to run. Absolute night and day shuts down a whole lot of unnecessary snap crackle and pop seems to increase fuel economy my Fusion Dashboard display actually hit 4.4 Liters per hundred clicks average just running around Surrey.
  12. So far so good, kinda fun to play with I use OBD Fusion for iphone, Torque Pro is great for android. If you have an ipad or android pad you can make a Dash that looks like a 747 cockpit and watch boost, intake air temp, coolant temp ect. as you drive. I just want to know when I need to know if the engine on a hill is getting hot and things like that. If you buy an ELM327 from Ebay I suggest looking at the sellers number sold and the sellers rating. Lots sold lots of happy people your probably going to get a good copy. My guess is version 2.1 is top of the line if you have an Android phone you can Identify the version through a small free app. My ELM adapter is supposed to be 3 way compatible WiFi connection, Blue Tooth connection and the latest electric vehicles compatible. Basic stuff but I did not realize how fast the intake air temp rises when the turbo kicks in ect. also my engine temp is to low most of the time.

I ordered another ELM327 from China supposed to be the mother of all WiFi OBD2 adapters V-2.1 version for my iphone received it today and paired through WiFi with app OBD Fusion so far so good I have live intake air temp, coolant temp, boost PSI, live average L per hundred and system voltage. Compared to buying a Star machine this is so far working out pretty good.
  14. It definitely works on Tesla cars it works to well for unlocking Tesla cars. In the local news 2 white Tesla cars parked beside each other one owner unlocked the car door with his phone and drove away in the wrong white Tesla.
  15. Has anybody tried the iphone wallet key to lock unlock your car doors ? I'm wondering if this would give us a much much cheaper back-up key remote.
  16. Anybody know where I might be able to download the Service Manual or buy a digital copy ? It would be great to have wiring schematics and all the information on my car I hope to spend as little time on the side of the road as necessary. Thanks for any help

I had my ELM327 stolen from my unlocked car last night I doubt the thief even new what it was so I ordered another V2.1 ELM OBD2 WiFi adapter for my iphone Car Scanner ELM app. Anybody else found any apps like Torque, Fusion , Car Scanner OBD that work well on a phone ? Car Scanner Pro is going to take a while to set up Dash Boards but it's Chinese to me right now.
  18. I have seen before where this was a heavily retarded timing issue and also incorrect injector for the engine issue. I myself would start by getting rid of the fuel and start with fresh fuel just to rule that out and put it behind you. I always dump fuel filters out into a pail to look for water at change time water is deadly on diesel fuel systems far more than anything else,find water find another gas station. As the engine warms up the eye stinging white smoke is unburnt diesel fuel vapourized hot but not burned. Does the Start machine show restricted air intake ? Severely restricting air say due to a misplaced rag in the intake can do this. Bad injectors one way or another water damage or wrong Tips. Retarded engine timing ? To much retard of timing = White Smoke to much Advance is usually smoke Grey/black. Also A cylinder on the Star Machine that looks weak could just have a shitty injector.
  19. I have been having a real headache signing into this site with FireFox so I tried Chrome and I was able to sign in and respond. The symptoms you describe would be typically not over fueling. Over fueling usually causes black smoke not white smoke. Fuel injectors are high precision made the clearance between plunger and barrel measured in .0000 of an inch not .000 of an inch. If you have taken injectors apart and polished them ect you may have damaged them. Lots of white smoke is most often bad fuel injectors which can be the result of water in your fuel ect scuffing and scratching of the Barrel and plungers. Odds are if you put in a set of decent injectors your problem would disappear. I use HotShot secret and my engine runs so well it kind of shocks me, the diesel treatment raises the Cetane rating of the fuel it makes a big difference and stops a lot of rattle, crack and pop sounds from the engine noise. Our Diesel at the pumps is clean but the quality seems a tad low.

  21. Has anybody tried to connect with an ELM 327 wifi connection and a program like Torque-Pro ? I love my ELM 327 OBD2 WiFi connector because you can connect with your Laptop or cellphone to read fault codes ect.

Bosch a well known and long time fuel injection company has made fuel injectors since the beginning of recorded fuel injection time for hundreds and thousands of applications they don't fail unless you get a gulp of water in your fuel normally. Use HotShot Diesel Extreme to * clean * the fuel injection system which includes clearing moisture safely. Use HotShot Secret Every Day diesel treatment to upgrade your fuel quality Cetane rating also * Lubricity * . Fuel injection parts need to be basically floating in oil all the time, water allows metal to metal contact that results in things like injector plunger scoring which results in your injector going for a shite.
  25. Yup I'm puzzled as well by all the injector work I have run small diesels 500,000 km and never touched fuel injectors. I have run fleets of trucks that hit 1000,000 kms and some well beyond that never had injectors touched. The first thing I would suggest is use HotShot diesel additives to clean and maintain your fuel system HotShot Secret Diesel Extreme to clean every 6 months and HotShot EDT in every tank which also adds lubricity to your fuel.
